Rt. Hon. Duke Advocates Good Governance, Decries APC Administration …As Akwa Ibom ADC Hosts Coalition Partners’ Convergence

In response to growing concerns over hardship and misgovernance in Nigeria, the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Duke Dick, has called for the enthronement of good governance and strongly criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he described as "the worst government" in the nation’s history.
Rt. Hon. Duke made the remarks last weekend during a landmark event the convergence of coalition partners held at the ADC Secretariat, 84 Udotung Uboh, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The theme of the event was “Strengthening Alliances for a Better Nigeria."
The gathering attracted party members, stakeholders, and representatives of allied groups, all committed to forging stronger political alliances that promote national development and democratic progress.
In his address, Rt. Hon. Duke lamented the level of starvation, hardship, and avoidable deaths under the APC-led government, stating:“The APC government is the worst government.
The coalition aims to liberate Nigerians from starvation, hardship, and incessant deaths tragedies that have involved numerous renowned politicians .
“ADC has nothing to do with money. It’s about integrity what you stand for. About Seven block and groups and other some notable political parties are in coalition with the ADC."
He appreciated the dedication of party members, saying:“I thank you for coming out to support the progress of the party and for the liberation of the State and the nation at large. I want to assure all of you that, no matter the condition, we will succeed and make it.
“One of our core ethics is non violence. We will defend our votes once they are announced.”He also extended special appreciation to the ADC State Chairmen in Akwa Ibom for their continued efforts.
Speaking on behalf of the Coalition of Political Democratic Movements (COPDEM), Comrade Saviour Akpan expressed strong support for ADC's leadership and vision.
He said:“We came to join ADC from COPDEM because the party is a stable political platform. It is a party that will sit at A*o Rock come 2027. I am an unrepentant supporter of Peter Obi. If we bring all our strength, energy, strategies, and abilities and channel them into this party, 2027 is a done deal.
“No matter what it takes, don’t allow anyone to buy your conscience.”
Delivering the keynote address, former Deputy Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Akwa Ibom State, Prince Ubong Eberefiak, spoke on the topic: “Mobilizing Citizens for Effective Change Action.
He emphasized the importance of coalition building as a critical strategy to combat misgovernance:“To effectively mobilize citizens for meaningful change, it is crucial to bring stakeholders and coalition partners together and develop a clear action plan.
This ensures coordinated and impactful efforts toward reforming our political system.”Another guest speaker, Pastor Ekom-obong Akpan, delivered a paper titled “Stakeholders Engagement as a Nexus to Good Governance.
He emphasized:Governance in democratic systems is increasingly dynamic and complex. Effective stakeholder engagement is central to ensuring inclusive, transparent, and accountable governance.
“Democracies are no longer linear systems. Citizens, civil societies, the private sector, and government are more interconnected than ever before.”
The convergence marks a pivotal step in ADC’s drive to build strong alliances and chart a new course for Nigeria’s future, built on integrity, inclusion, and genuine democratic principles.
