Before you come here to argue on how much can build a standard one bedroom flat

Buy 2,000units of standard 6inches blocks each - 2,000,000.00

Buy 30tons of Granite - 1million naira

Buy 5trips of sand - 255,000

Buy 100bags of cement - 1,300,000

Buy 3 trips of filling sand - 450k

Buy rods,planks,2by2

Dig foundation - cast and lay atleast 6course blocks for suspended DPC. Do proper filling, soak the soil, hire ramping machine and compact it probably.
Cast the German floor.

Then start setting out, build to window level, cast another chain beam, then complete the block work.

Pay all the Masons and labourers.

Buy wood and roofing sheet,do the wood work, and roofing.
Pay carpenters.

If you don't completely exhaust 7m or something very close, you either cut corners or simply did not do a good job.

The first 100bags of cement we bought to build a piggery pen was 300k(three hundred thousand naira) per bag
A trip of sand was 12k

When we started our projects in Uyo around 2023, we bought 100bags of cement for 450,000(Four hundred and fifty thousand naira). A trip of sand was 20k,25k highest 27k.

Today, 100bags of cement is 1.3m (one million three hundred thousand naira) with loading, offloading and delivery to your location.

Minimum wage in Nigeria is 70k (Seventy thousand naira)

A graduate in Akwa Ibom state civil service earns 120k(One hundred and twenty thousand naira)after medical insurance deduction.

Meaning a graduate, working with Akwa Ibom state Government can not afford 100bags of cement from his 10months salary even though he doesn't take out a kobo to feed.

It also implies if your 2-3bedroom house would require 300 hundred bags of cement, you will need to keep your whole salary for 3years without touching it to be able to afford just cement.
How about sand, gravel, rods, wood, roofing sheets, workmanship, survey, drawings, Electrical, plumbing and finishing??

Shout God abeg oo!!

But this is reality.
So I understand when you cry about annual rent of 1.5million naira for a two bedroom flat.- if I were you,I will remove my mouth from this rent conversation because this rent bracket is simply not for you. So sit yourself out of the conversation.

I see how You are so focused on attacking landlords and price of rental properties, channel that energy into Calling out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to open border for importation of cement. It may actually yield result 😁😁

Call out Pastor Umo Eno to take out some of our money and build standard 2,000 units of Two-bedroom flats in each Senatorial district, tare the Estate roads, put hospitals , schools, police stations and light in the Estates. Make it beautiful and habitable.
Sell it to Akwa Ibomite with option to repay the Government within 20years.

If he sells a Unit for 25m(Twenty five million naira) that will be 1.250m (One million two hundred and fifty thousand naira per annum). A two functional Adult household can set aside 1.250 per annum for mortgage.

Noticed that even this Government intervention is not cheap?? If you no tie belle, you no go still meet up.

Rent is never going to be cheap .
Owning a house has never been easy.
That's why your Father lived in a thatch house in your village while other people's parents lived in Ewet housing Estate in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.
even now while you cry about annual rent, bricklayers, plumbers, Electricians labourers are buying lands in the city centre and are building their first houses. Your excuse will never be good enough.

Now is time to decide if you will fight and own a house or you will give up and return to the village. Now is the time.
And no matter how you complain, crash out and cry about increase in price of rent,it won't really change a thing.

Nobody will set aside 100million naira to build a house and give you to live for free, nobody!
Even your Government,if them zero mind build a standard Estate,na only politicians go fit afford am. I go lie for you??

He only went out for survival, daily hustling, only for him to reportedly kpai on the same road he went out to hustle

I learnt that the young Okada rider reportedly l0st his life this morning after a tree fell on him along Abak Road Uyo, opposite the Cultural Centre

According to information, the young man had left home to carry out his normal daily business when the unfortunate incident happened. He was reportedly struck by the falling tree and sadly, I learnt that he is already d£ad

This one is pa!nful because sometimes, people leave their homes simply to look for what they will eat and return safely to their families, but life can suddenly take an unexpected turn

May what we don't expect not kpai us
May our hustle never kpai us
