A step towards empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has opened applications for its Skills Development Training and Empowerment Programme, focused on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicle Conversion across the nine states of the Niger Delta.

This programme is designed to equip Niger Delta youths with practical, industry-relevant skills that support job creation, cleaner energy adoption, and the growth of a more reliable and sustainable transportation sector in the region.

Eligible youths are encouraged to apply online through the official NDDC portal within the stipulated period, as only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further screening.

AKSG Recruitment: Commencement of Oral Interviews

Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the commencement of oral interviews for candidates who successfully passed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) in the ongoing civil service recruitment exercise.

According to a statement issued today by Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Commission, the interviews will begin tomorrow Monday, January 26, 2026, at the Civil Service Commission Headquarters, Idongesit Kanga Secretariat, Uyo.

The interviews are scheduled to hold daily from 8am to 5pm.

The Commission says interviews for candidates in the Health Sector will commence first, while interviews for the Secondary and Technical Education sectors will run concurrently.

It stresses that only candidates who were invited after successfully passing the CBT examination are expected to participate in the oral interview exercise.

The Commission advises candidates to attend the interview with original copies of their academic and professional credentials for verification.

Akwa Ibom Debunks News of Students Abduction at Mary Hanney Secondary School, Oron

The Akwa Ibom State Government has debunked a malicious and false report circulating on social media claiming that students of Mary Hanney Secondary School, Oron, were kidnapped.

In a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, Ph.D, and the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Umoh, the government said the report was entirely false, noting that "no abduction or security incident ever occurred at Mary Hanney Secondary School or anywhere in Oron."

The statement, issued on November 28, 2025, described the social media claims as fabricated and intended only to create panic among residents.
Parents, guardians, and the public were urged to remain calm, disregard the false reports, and continue their daily activities without fear.

The Government also issued a stern warning to "peddlers of fake news" to desist from the act, noting that security agencies will take strict actions against anyone found spreading false information with the intent of inciting fear and panic within the State.

Gis Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno Ph.D., places high priority on the safety and security of lives and property. He calls on all to cooperate with the Security Agencies in ensuring that perpetrators and accomplices in the perpetration of such fake news are brought to book.

Gov Eno's Aide urges young people to align values with their ambitions

The Personal Assistant to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Youth Affairs, Comrade Amama Aloysius, has urged young people to be deliberate in choosing mentors and ensuring that their values align with their personal and professional ambitions.

The Governor's aide made the remarks during his induction as a Member of the Institute of Corporate Leadership and Mentorship at the 2025 National Leadership and Entrepreneurship Conference.

Speaking to participants, Aloysius described the event as a platform to celebrate ethical leadership and professional excellence, emphasizing that mentorship and the adoption of positive values are critical to shaping the next generation of leaders.

He also paid tribute to Governor Umo Eno for his visionary leadership, describing him as a transformational leader whose achievements in governance and compassionate approach have positioned Akwa Ibom as a model of good governance and quality infrastructure.

Reflecting on the significance of the induction, Comrade Aloysius noted that it represents both recognition of past contributions and a renewed call to service, commitment, and excellence in youth development.

“Who you follow determines how far you will go. Surround yourself with those whose values align with your dreams,” he said.

“Let me also take this opportunity to appreciate my boss, Governor Eno, who has shown us that leadership can be firm, compassionate, and impactful. Through his achievements, he has positioned Akwa Ibom as a model of good governance."he added.
