Anietie Essia, Uruan

Governor Udom Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State has again received commendations from the people of Ituk Mbang and Ekpene Ukim villages in Uruan Local Government Area following an immediate flood intervention project and the construction of some internal roads in the area.

It was gathered that the two villages in the last 3 decades had suffered perennial environmental hazards of flood and erosion affecting some quarters of the General Hospital, Ituk Mbang in Uruan Local Government Area.

His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel is said to have ordered the immediate intervention of the flood control project and the construction of some internal roads within the area following series of public outcry by members of the two communities including medical personnels of the hospital decrying the poor and deplorable state of the internal roads including what they described as perennial flood ravaging the area.

Recall, His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel had promised that his completion agenda is geared and poised towards having a renaissance in infrastructural development within the length and breadth of the state, hence, the immediate intervention of the flood control project as well as construction of some internal roads in Ituk Mbang and Ekpene Ukim tops his priority for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Leading Members of the fourth estate of the realm to an on-the-spot assessment of the level of work done at the site, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh, the Executive Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Roads and Other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency (AKROIMA) with other board members thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for responding rapidly to the plights and yearnings of the two villages and the granting approval for the commencement of the intervention work.

Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh stated that Governor Udom Emmanuel is a visionary and democratic leader who is very passionate about the welfare and well-being of the people of Akwa Ibom State, noting that the approval of the intervention project is another testament of his result oriented administration.

"I want to thank His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel for trusting us to undertake a project of this nature, the faith he has, that yes we can do it and we have done our best to show that we can do it so that we can enjoy and earn that confidence reposed in us". He said.

The AKROIMA Boss disclosed that the Ituk Mbang and Ekpene Ukim road is constructed with a spur drainages of 1.5 kilometers and a outfall, though surrounded by hills within the two faces of the community coming into a serious broad depth which is retaining all the water at a particular location to disturb the hospital with flood usually taking over the many wards of the hospital and not allowing the roads to be motorable most particularly during rainy seasons.

When asked of the quality of job done, he maintained that the Agency cannot compromise with the quality of job, noting that they have Council for the Regulation Engineering in Nigeria, COREN certified indigenous engineers deploying all engineering practices following the scope and standards of the profession assured that a good quality of job will be delivered which will stand the test of time.

Also speaking, Prince Okon Etim, the Community Liason Officer, extolled the leadership prowess of Governor Udom Emmanuel whom has deployed all necessary modalities and strategies towards ensuring that Akwa Ibom remains peaceful with lofty projects with reference to the ongoing Flood intervention project in the area and other projects scattered around the state.

INSPECTION: WORK IN PROGRESS
AKROIMA Boss condemns attitude of Heavy duty vehicles...AKROIMA uses latest technology on potholes on Nwaniba road.

Drivers of heavy duty vehicles/Tippers who have.constantly flouted the directive not to use the Ikono-Ukpom Abak road, are in for rough days ahead as Akwa Ibom State Roads and Other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency ( AKROIMA)is set to collaborate with Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Works inorder to enforce compliance.

The assertion was made by the Chairman of AKROIMA, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh Ph.D when he led the Board of the Agency on an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of failed portions of the Ikono- Ukpom Abak Road on Friday August 21, 2020.
