Founded on 6 February 2013 from a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties, the party came to power following the victory of party candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election. This marked the first time in Nigerian history that an opposition party unseated a governing

party and power was transferred peacefully. STATEHOUSE STATEMENT

Members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council constituted; Abdulaziz Yari to serve as DG, Uzodimma secretary

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as chairman and vice chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, according to the list released Saturday morning.

Party Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda will also serve as vice chairman, while former Zamfara State governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari will serve as the director-general of the campaign.

Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as secretary of the campaign council. APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as deputy and assistant secretaries.

The chairman of the campaign Council, President Tinubu, will work with a body of advisers comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abass, and Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State have been assigned as deputy director-generals for the campaign in the south and the north. They will work with Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in the two zones.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole will serve as deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as deputy director-general for administration.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a pivotal role in the 2022/2023 campaign, has returned as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

Faleke will work with zonal directors, with Senator Olushola Adeyeye in the South West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme in the South South, Senator Uche Ekwunife in the South East, Muntaqha Rabe in the North West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso in the North Central, and Senator Sani Danladi in the North East.

Ms Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori will serve as secretaries of the election planning directorate.

Muiz Adeyemi Banire will lead the legal directorate as director, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members are Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, will serve as the coordinating director for media and Strategic Communication, along with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, and Lanre Issa-Onilu. The media directorate also includes Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala, and Felix Morka, who have been assigned as coordinating deputy directors.

Abdulaziz AbdulAziz will work with three others, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke, and Frederick Nwabufor, as coordinating secretaries of the media directorate. Segun Dada will serve as Director, New Media, the same role he performed in 2022. Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary, New Media.

The campaign has also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Other spokespersons are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Sh*ttu and Adamu Fanda.

President Tinubu has charged all council members to work tirelessly to deliver victory for the party in the January 2027 elections. He has also encouraged the leaders of the various directorates to reach out to other party members who may not have been formally listed to join their crucial efforts.

We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians. GOVERNOR UMO ENO, PhD, CELEBRATES APC NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, PROF. NENTAWE YILWATDA, ON HIS BIRTHDAY

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has felicitated the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on the occasion of his birthday.

In a goodwill message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, the Governor described Prof. Yilwatda as a consummate politician and bridge-builder whose political acumen, inclusive disposition and consensus-building approach have continued to strengthen unity within the party.

Governor Eno commended the APC National Chairman for his purposeful leadership and efforts in consolidating the party’s position as Nigeria’s dominant political platform, expressing confidence that under his leadership, the party will remain united, focused and well-positioned for a landslide victory in the 2027 general elections.

OPPOSITION PARTIES' FAILURE TO MEET INEC DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF 2027 ELECTION CANDIDATES EXPOSES THEIR UNPREPAREDNESS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is pleased to announce that it successfully met the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) deadline for the submission of names of its candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections. Our great Party satisfied this requirement despite the large number of Party candidates contesting on the Party's platform for the various elective offices.

At the request of opposition political parties that had failed to meet the July 11 deadline, granted an extension of the deadline to July 14, 2026.

While INEC acted within its statutory powers and administrative discretion in extending the deadline for opposition parties to upload names of their candidates, it is noteworthy that the extension was necessitated by the stark failure of opposition parties to manage their internal processes to comply with INEC’s submission deadline despite having fewer candidates to manage compared to the APC.

This development provides yet another clear indication of the opposition's chronic inherent weakness and raises legitimate questions about their operational capacity. Political parties that cannot efficiently conclude their own internal nomination processes cannot possibly be trusted by Nigerians to possess the competence, discipline, or readiness to govern our great nation or it subnational governments.

It is starkly ironical that the same opposition parties have repeatedly peddled false, malicious and unfounded tales that the APC controls and dictates INEC’s decisions. Yet, as they failed to meet the submission deadline, they shamelessly turned to the same INEC for respite, and were granted an extension. And the same APC that would have been the obvious beneficiary if INEC had stood firm on its original deadline, kept its distance, having met the deadline and completed its submission. Again, this underscores the oppositions’ hypocrisy, and true character as peddlers of fake news and merchants of blackmail.

With the successful upload of particulars of all its Presidential, Vice Presidential, Senate, and House of Representatives candidates on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal, APC has, again, demonstrated its leadership and superior organisational capacity, discipline, and solid commitment to due process.

As we conclude this important phase of the electoral process, we call on all Party leaders, stakeholders, members, and supporters to turn their full attention to the task ahead. We must remain focused and continue to strengthen our structures at all levels, increase awareness of the massive achievements under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, deepen grassroots mobilisation, and prepare for a vigorous, issue-based campaign that will earn our great Party a renewed mandate in the 2027 general elections.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally submitted his presidential nomination documents to the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee ahead of the party’s submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 general elections.

The President also confirmed Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate, formally retaining the Tinubu-Shettima ticket for the forthcoming presidential election.

The announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, who presented Vice President Shettima’s nomination form during a brief ceremony attended by APC leaders at the Continental Hotel in Abuja.

RESOLUTIONS REACHED AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE STATUTORY MEETING OF THE AKWA IBOM STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS HELD ON MONDAY, 6 JULY 2026, AT THE STATE PARTY SECRETARIAT, NO. 1 INFORMATION DRIVE, OFF RING ROAD, UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE

The Akwa Ibom State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress held its statutory meeting on Monday, 6 July 2026, at the State Party Secretariat, No. 1 Information Drive, off Ring Road, Uyo.

The meeting was presided over by the State Chairman of the party, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo.

The State Executive Committee undertook a comprehensive review of the affairs of the party, examined current political developments at the state and national levels, assessed the progress of the party since the successful integration of progressive political forces in the state, and deliberated extensively on strategies for strengthening party structures, consolidating internal unity, expanding grassroots mobilisation, and positioning the All Progressives Congress for a resounding victory in the forthcoming general elections.

After exhaustive deliberations, the Executive Committee unanimously adopted the following resolutions:

RESOLUTIONS

1. The State Executive Committee reaffirmed its total, unwavering and unalloyed loyalty to the Constitution, manifesto, ideals and leadership of the All Progressives Congress. It resolved to continue promoting unity, discipline, peace, inclusiveness and progressive governance across Akwa Ibom State.

2. The Executive Committee unanimously reaffirmed its absolute confidence in, and endorsement of, the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. It resolved to mobilise massively across the state to ensure his overwhelming re election in the forthcoming presidential election, in recognition of his bold reforms and Renewed Hope Agenda for the prosperity of Nigeria.

3. The Executive Committee unanimously endorsed and adopted His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D., for a well deserved second term as Governor of Akwa Ibom State, having carefully reviewed the remarkable achievements of his administration under the ARISE Agenda, which has transformed critical sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, rural development, youth and women empowerment, security, tourism, industrialisation and human capital development.

4. The Executive Committee commended Governor Umo Eno for providing purposeful, inclusive and people oriented leadership that has fostered peace, unity, political tolerance, economic growth and unprecedented cooperation among stakeholders across party lines, thereby promoting stability and sustainable development throughout Akwa Ibom State.

5. The Executive Committee pledged its unwavering support and total commitment to the successful implementation of the ARISE Agenda. It also resolved to work tirelessly to ensure the consolidation of its numerous achievements through the re election of Governor Umo Bassey Eno for a second term in office.

6. The Executive Committee unanimously commended the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Chief Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, for his unwavering loyalty and steadfast support to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The Committee also applauded his sustained solidarity with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D., as well as his remarkable contributions to national development.

7. The Executive Committee unanimously commended the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, for his pragmatic, visionary and inclusive leadership style, which has continued to strengthen and reposition the party across the state. The Committee particularly acknowledged his tireless efforts in uniting party members, fostering internal cohesion, reconciling diverse interests, expanding grassroots structures, and providing purposeful leadership that has enhanced the stability, growth and electoral preparedness of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State.

8. The Executive Committee further resolved to work in close collaboration with the Government of Akwa Ibom State to sustain the prevailing atmosphere of peace, unity and political harmony, while promoting policies and programmes that will continue to improve the welfare and prosperity of the people of the state.

9. The Executive Committee unanimously congratulated all duly nominated candidates of the All Progressives Congress for elective offices in the forthcoming elections and resolved to provide every necessary support to guarantee their emergence at the polls.

10. The Executive Committee directed all state, chapter, ward and unit Executive Committee members, political office holders, stakeholders and party faithful to immediately return to their respective jurisdictions to intensify grassroots mobilisation, strengthen party structures, register new members, revalidate existing support bases, engage eligible voters, and ensure effective coordination towards delivering overwhelming victories for the party at all levels.

11. The Executive Committee called on all members of the party to remain steadfast, united, disciplined and loyal to the leadership of the party, while eschewing acts capable of undermining the collective interest, stability and electoral fortunes of the All Progressives Congress.

12. The Executive Committee expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, and Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D., for their visionary leadership, enduring commitment to democratic governance, and unwavering dedication to the peace, progress and development of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.

13. The Executive Committee assured the people of Akwa Ibom State that the All Progressives Congress remains firmly committed to providing responsible political leadership, promoting good governance, protecting the interests of the people, and ensuring that the dividends of democracy continue to reach every community across the state.

14. Constitution of the State Standing Disciplinary Committee

Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the All Progressives Congress and in furtherance of its commitment to strengthening internal democracy, promoting discipline, ensuring adherence to party rules, and preserving the unity and integrity of the party, the State Executive Committee unanimously resolved to constitute the Akwa Ibom State Standing Disciplinary Committee.

The Committee shall, in accordance with the Constitution of the party and other applicable guidelines, receive, investigate and make appropriate recommendations to the State Executive Committee on matters relating to discipline, misconduct, breaches of party rules, anti party activities, and such other issues as may be referred to it.

The Committee shall comprise the following distinguished members:

1. Augustine Enefiok Udoh, Esq., Chairman

2. Kemfon Neke, Esq., Secretary

3. Sir Joseph Cosmos Tombere, Member

4. Obong Anwan Akon Michael, Member

5. Utitofon Jeremiah, Member

The Executive Committee congratulated the members on their appointment and expressed confidence in their integrity, experience, impartiality and commitment to upholding the Constitution, discipline and core values of the All Progressives Congress in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The meeting ended on a note of unity, renewed hope and absolute confidence that the All Progressives Congress remains the most formidable political platform for sustaining peace, accelerating development and securing a brighter future for Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
