The FCT Police Command has rescued a baby boy in Kurudu and a baby girl in Gwagwalada, both found abandoned in separate incidents.

The babies are receiving medical care, while efforts are ongoing to identify their mothers and family members.

Anyone with useful information is urged to contact the nearest Police Station or the PPRO on 07038979348, 08107314192.

IN 1989, BABANGIDA'S LAST CHILD DISAPPOINTED PROPHETS AND SEERS.

In May 1989, when First Lady Maryam Babangida was pregnant with her fourth child, many psychics (seers) and some religious leaders in Nigeria swore with their powers that the child would be a boy. But the child disappointed them. The President's wife gave birth to a baby girl.

The seers and religious leaders were even top ones in Nigeria at the time, whose predictions had proved accurate in the past.

Here's how Prime People magazine reported it "Lady psychic Mrs. Grace Ogbornwa was first off the mark. As soon as Prime People paid the mandatory N20 consultation fee, she asked us to pose the question: What is the s*x of the child that our First Lady is carrying? 'It's a boy!', she said confidently. 'He will grow up to be a healthy man, a great man who will achieve world acclaim, especially as a philanthropist, although he will not look like that in his childhood.' Mrs. Ogbornwa, lady with psychic power who claims she has direct links with heaven enthused further: 'Let parents not be deceived by the boy's innocent look in childhood, he is going to grow up a great guy.'

Other psychics and renowned seers echoed Mrs. Ogbornwa's prediction. They were unanimous that the first Lady's pregnancy which was first announced by Prime People and later confirmed by a Dodan Barracks announcement, will bring forth a male child. Although all the other seers asked for anonymity, they also echoed Mrs. Ogbornwa's prediction that the boy may arrive earlier than expected. They also asked that special prayers be held for powerful children to be protected before and after delivery.

According to them, the boy the First couple will have is a very powerful being and such powerful children have to be handled with care before and after delivery (in infancy).

Again Mrs. Ogbornwa hit the nail on the head. 'The First Lady should be in her fifth month,' she said. 'She delivers. A seven-day prayer should be held for mother and child early in August. The boy is not only destined to be a great man but another prophet. He's also going to be spiritually endowed. This is a rare combination so that the mother has to make sure to sacrifice in neighbourhood children.

"Once these are done, the sky will be the limit for this God-sent child,' added Mrs. Ogbornwa"
Finally, the child came and it was a girl. Born 7 August 1989, she was named Halimatu (Halima) Babangida.

She is the last of General Ibrahim Babangida's four children (Aisha, Muhammad, Aminu, and Halima).

Following Nasir Musa Idris’s allegation that Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has been keeping his Moroccan wife for over 11 months, Sheikh Gumi has offered his clarification.

He said some young people like Nasir Musa Idris, who claim to practise the Sunnah, travel to Arab countries, marry women, seize their passports, and allegedly maltreat them.

Gumi described Musa as “a young liar who pretends to be someone he is not,” and alleged that he uses some judges who deceive him and benefit financially from him.

He also questioned why judges would hesitate to act when a case is brought before them involving a husband allegedly abusing his wife, denying her food, or violating her marital rights.

He said no one should behave as though they are above the authority of a judge.

‘If I’m President, I’ll Give Bandits Six-Month Amnesty To Surrender Weapons’ – Sheikh Gumi

Sheikh Gumi has urged the Federal Government to consider negotiating with bandits and terrorists, proposing a six-month amnesty window for them to surrender their weapons.

He also suggested rehabilitation, education and other incentives for the groups and their children as part of efforts to address Nigeria’s insecurity.

Why can’t we negotiate with them?” he asked, insisting that dialogue should be explored as one of the possible ways of ending the crisis.

According to him, the government should be open to dialogue with armed groups, citing negotiations used by other countries to resolve conflicts involving militant organisations.

Meet Nigeria's first female presidential candidate in history

Nigeria's first female presidential candidate both at the primaries and the main election is none other than Dr. Sarah Jubril.

Her first presidential run was in 1992 under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the party whose primary eventually produced M.K.O Abiola for the 1993 presidential election. She came fourth in the primary election, though she won the nomination for her state, Kwara.

She was also the only female contestant in that presidential race ahead of 1993. She is also believed to have remained the only female contestant for the presidential election up till 2015 and the emergence of Prof. Remi Sonaiya as another female aspirant and candidate.

For clarity, Dr. Sarah Jubril contested in 1998 on the PDP platform but lost to Olusegun Obasanjo. In 2003 on the platform of Progressive Action Congress (PAC) made her the first woman to actually appear on the ballot as a presidential candidate for a registered party. In 2007 on the platform of the PDP. Before the primary election, she vowed to defeat Ibrahim Babangida who was also trying to contest. In the end, she scored 4 votes losing to Umaru Yar'Adua, who later won in the main election. In 2011, she was the only woman to contest the PDP presidential primaries but lost to Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as she had only a vote.

She later became a Special Adviser on Ethics and Values to President Goodluck Jonathan.

The psychologist and teacher first got into politics in the early 1980s when she contested for the Senate in Kwara State (1983) and later served in Kwara as Commissioner for Social Development, Youths, Sports and Culture (1987-88).

Though Dr. Jubril never won a main election, she has an impressive history of achievement in a wide range of educational, ethics, governance, education, charitable and business roles.

Moment Ojukwu's second-in-command surrendered to Gowon

The Nigerian civil war lasted for three years, but the final Nigerian offensive, named "Operation Tail-Wind", was launched on 7 January, 1970 with the 3rd Marine Commando Division attacking, and supported by the 1st Infantry division to the north and the 2nd Infantry division to the south. The Biafran towns of Owerri fell on 9 January, and Uli on 11 January. Only a few days earlier, Emeka Ojukwu, the Biafran warlord, fled into exile by plane to the Ivory Coast, leaving his deputy, Philip Effiong, to handle the details of the surrender to General Yakubu Gowon of the Federal Army on 13 January 1970.

The surrender paper was signed on 14 January, 1970 in Lagos and thus came the end of the civil war and renunciation of secession. Fighting ended a few days later, with the Nigerian forces advancing into the remaining Biafran-held territories, which was met with little resistance.
