_Bayelsa Health Commissioner Celebrates NG Coordinating Minister, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, at 58_

‎The Bayelsa State Ministry of Health, under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa F. Brisibe, felicitates with the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, CON, on the occasion of his 58th birthday.

‎The Commissioner describes Prof. Pate as an accomplished physician, reformer and dedicated servant of the people whose leadership has continued to contribute significantly to the transformation of Nigeria’s health sector.

‎Prof. Brisibe commends the Coordinating Minister’s efforts in strengthening Primary Health Care delivery, expanding health insurance coverage for vulnerable Nigerians, reducing out-of-pocket healthcare costs, and improving access to quality maternal and newborn services across the country.

‎He also applauds the ongoing renovation and establishment of Primary Health Care Centres across the nation, as well as the Minister’s strategic leadership and partnerships driving the Nigerian Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and the Sector-Wide Approach.

‎According to the Commissioner, these reforms are helping to strengthen Nigeria’s health system, save lives and improve health outcomes for millions of Nigerians.

‎He further congratulates Prof. Pate on his recognition among the TIME100 Health Most Influential People of 2025, describing the honour as a testament to his impact and commitment to global health.

‎Prof. Brisibe, on behalf of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Health, wishes the Coordinating Minister continued good health, wisdom and greater accomplishments in service to Nigeria.

‎BMUTH: Governor Diri Appoints Dr. Boboye Ifie As Pioneer Chief Medical Director

‎The Bayelsa State Governor, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Douye Diri, has approved the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Boboye Kenesuomene Ifie, as Pioneer Chief Medical Director of the Bayelsa Medical University Teaching Hospital (BMUTH) for a single tenure of Five (5) years.

‎Dr. Boboye is an experienced Consultant Paediatrician who recently undertook an assessment tour of all teaching hospitals across the South-South States of Nigeria.

‎Until her appointment, she was the Director, Medical and Dental Services, Bayelsa State Hospitals Management Board.

‎Dr. Boboye Kenesuomone Ifie-Ombeh, a Medical Practitioner with many years of experience in both General Medicine and Paediatric Care is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians.

‎In the recent time, she was the Consultant in charge, Bayelsa Specialist Hospital and there where she displayed great leadership skills, good work ethics, has served and is currently serving in many professional bodies and her Alumni association, UIAA, among others.

‎She also lectures and mentors students both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels showcasing her inherent passion for academic excellence.

2026 JAR‎: Bayelsa Health Ministry Holds Joint Annual Review, Assures More Commitments On Healthcare Dev't

‎The Bayelsa State Ministry of Health joined by the States' Primary Healthcare Board joined and other key development partners held Health Sector 2026 Joint Annual Review on August 18–19, 2026, to assess sector performance and advance strategic healthcare priorities across the state.

‎The Health Sector Joint Annual Review provides an important platform for the Health Commissioner, Directors, partners and other key stakeholders to assess the progress, challenges and achievements of the health sector over the year.

‎The JAR meeting also provided opportunity for everyone to evaluate ongoing programmes, review health indicators, share experiences and develop practical strategies for improving healthcare delivery.

‎The Health Ministry under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, and in collaboration with UNICEF, WHO, MSI Reproductive Choices, SOLINA, SWaP, and NHS RIIJ, health leaders and stakeholders convened at the Bayelsa Health Insurance House Conference Hall in Yenagoa to evaluate progress, address operational gaps, and optimize service delivery.

‎The Health Commissioner and Directors reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration, improving productivity, enhancing healthcare infrastructure and ensuring quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services for the people.

Oversight Function: Prof. Brisibe Leads BYS House of Assembly Committee On Health On Facility Tour

"On this past Monday, our dear Lawmakers, Members of the House committee on Health embarked on an oversight visit to health facilities to assess the State of infrastructure, equipment, manpower and service delivery.

‎The visit aimed at identifying challenges affecting effective healthcare delivery and ensuring that government investments in the health sector are producing the desired impact.

Oversight visits are essential for strengthening accountability, improving healthcare services and ensuring that citizens have access to quality and affordable medical care

On behalf of the Health Ministry, I appreciated the lawmakers for their oversight visit to health facilities across the State. Their commitment to monitoring healthcare delivery, identifying challenges, and engaging with health workers demonstrates the importance of legislative support in strengthening the health sector in total support of the prosperity government led by His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri.

The Ministry remains committed to working closely with the lawmakers and other stakeholders to address identified gaps and ensure that government investments in healthcare translate into improved and accessible services for the people.

U.S CDC, AfriNet Award: Bayelsa Health Commissioner Presents Award To Gov. Diri, Assures More Workforce

‎The Bayelsa Health Commissioner, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, has presented an award to the Governor of Bayelsa State His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri on behalf of the United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S. CDC) and the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET).

‎Prof. Brisibe who presented the Award on Thursday 6th August 2026(193rd State EXCO Meeting) to Senator Douye Diri, highlighted that the Award is in recognition of the States' outstanding achievements in immunization and disease surveillance.

‎The Health Commissioner responding to newsmen thanked the Governor for rolling out remarkable government policies for the growth of all sectors, assured Bayelsans that the Gov. Diri led prosperity government will continue to implement sustainable policies and programmes aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the State.

‎The global recognition came after an assessment visit by international partners. They praised Bayelsa for immunizing more than 30,000 children, for reducing zero-dose children from 4,000 to 2,100 in one year, and for improving healthcare delivery through its partnership with Zipline.

‎According to the Commissioner, the development of the health sector is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of government, healthcare professionals, development partners, traditional institutions, communities and the general public.

‎The Commissioner therefore called on the people of the State to continue supporting and embracing the policies and programmes of the government, noting that meaningful progress in healthcare can only be achieved when citizens actively participate in and support government initiatives.

‎Bayelsa Gov't Strengthens Partnership With UNICEF, Commits ₦140m For Child Nutrition Initiatives

‎The Bayelsa State Government has
‎strengthen its partnership with UNICEF to improve child nutrition, healthcare delivery, and youth empowerment.

‎The high-level meeting led by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, the State committed a ₦140 million matching fund to support child nutrition initiatives, with a focus on the first 1,000 days of life, local nutrition solutions, and improved healthcare access to riverine communities.

‎The collaboration also explored youth agriculture and entrepreneurship programmes, reaffirming the Gov. Douye Diri administration's commitment to building a healthier and more resilient healthcare system for all Bayelsans.

‎Thereafter, the Health Commissioner, Prof. Brisibe led the delegation to meet with the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayaowei, as the SSG noted that the health initiatives align with a broader 10-year vision for urban renewal and sustainable infrastructure and commended UNICEF for prioritizing pregnant women and children.

‎The partnership also addressed youth empowerment. UNICEF highlighted a potential agriculture and entrepreneurship initiative for Bayelsa.

‎The meeting anchored on the States' healthcare development was attended by the Commissioner for Youths Development, Hon. Alfred Kemepado Dr. Jones Stow, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health; Chief Dr. Williams Appah, Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Board; and other key Directors.
