When Muhammad Buhari emerged the Presidential flag bearer of the APC, his supporters were happy. When he started his campaigns, Nigerians supported and followed him everywhere he went. They donated money and prayers to him. He was an unprecedented puller of the most unprecedented crowds in our political and social history. When it was time for elections, people came out to cast and protect their votes and the Card Reader helped to further secure their wish and will. When the results were announced and Buhari declared winner, Nigerians at home and abroad, young and old, celebrated the coming of a messiah. Nations of the world congratulated us. We went back to our place at the centre stage of world affairs. I think the best time to celebrate Buhari as Nigeria's President is now. He has demonstrated solid patriotism for our country. He has surrendered his time energy and even life so that the future of our children and of those unborn, will be secured. He has demonstrated a rock desire to lead by example. When he declared his assets publicly and we saw what he has, he elevated our trust in him and confirmed that we made the right choice. Buhari may not be the cleanest, purest or best Nigerian but there is no Nigerian who held public office in trust for the people like him and did not betray the people by refusing to steal from the people even when he had the opportunity to steal from the people and history has shown him many before and after him that had shamelessly stolen to the people leaving the people hungry and traumatized. Have you heard what Buhari has in assets after serving as GOC, Governor, Minister of petroleum , Head of PTF and even Head of State? The man has only 30 million naira! Mohammed Adokie was only a minister of justice but his son drove and crashed a car worth over 40 million. Akoabio had an accident last week and the jeep he was driving was worth about 32 million. Lamido's children were arrested at the airport with foreign currencies worth many times Buhari's 30 million. Asari was only someone's thug but he has assets in hundreds in billions including private schools and so does his brother, Tompolo. Bala Mohammed was a Senator and minister , his more than 30 million naira worth of jeep was found decked with dollars and pounds. I am not even talking about super ministers and other governors who have become super billionsures by supremely looting public treasury forgetting that they will answer supreme questions when they stand before our supreme creator whose judgement is supremely supreme. Even smaller thieves in as low as local governments who are mere cashiers and finance clerks are richer than our president. Buhari has brought hope. I am celebrating a new nation!
