Stop Dragging Tinubu Into Your Politics” – Adamawa APC Secretary, Atiku Ribadu Fires Back at ADC Chairman, Sadiq Dasin
The Adamawa State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, has responded strongly to recent remarks by the State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Barr. Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin, over his repeated criticism of the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ribadu questioned why Dasin, who is not a member of the APC, is consistently declaring that he “will not support APC or President Tinubu,” insisting that such statements are unnecessary since Dasin belongs to a different political party.
According to Ribadu, Dasin has repeatedly justified his position by citing the country’s current economic hardship and what he described as harsh government policies under the Tinubu administration.
The APC Secretary, however, argued that such criticism is politically motivated, alleging that had Dasin benefited from the APC-led Federal Government through a political appointment or other opportunity, he would not have been making such remarks against President Tinubu and the ruling party.
The APC scribe maintained that the party has no issue with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whom he described as a respected elder statesman, the Waziri Adamawa, and a father figure.
He, however, alleged that some politicians are hiding behind Atiku’s name to pursue their personal political ambitions rather than genuinely advancing the Waziri’s political interests.
Ribadu also challenged Dasin’s claims of long-standing political loyalty to Atiku, recalling that during the 2014 Adamawa governorship primary election, Atiku supported Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji, while Sadiq Dasin backed former Governor Jibrilla Bindow, who eventually emerged victorious.
The APC Secretary further questioned Dasin’s political influence, alleging that despite his frequent criticism of elected officials, he failed to deliver victory in his own Dasin ward during the last general elections, while the House of Representatives member for the area, Hon. Aliyu Wakili Boya, won all eight polling units in Dasin Ward living Sadiq with none.
On the issue of appointments, Ribadu claimed that before becoming the APC State Secretary, he made efforts to secure a federal government appointment for Dasin. According to him, had the appointment materialised, Barr. Dasin would likely not have emerged as one of the loudest critics of the APC administration and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He challenged the ADC Chairman to publicly deny the claim if it was untrue.
Mustapha Atiku Ribadu also revisited Dasin’s tenure as Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, alleging that he played a key role in the political events that led to the impeachment of former Governor Murtala Hammanyero Nyako, due to the way he was presiding the house, and even before Nyako’s Impeachment , Dasin was removed as Speaker himself due to failure.
Ribadu concluded by saying that “power is transient,” urging politicians to accept political realities when their time in office has passed. He further advised Dasin and like-minded politicians to stop using the name of Waziri Adamawa to score political points or distract the public, insisting that Atiku Abubakar deserves respect and should not be drawn into personal political battles.
Ribadu urged political actors to focus on issue-based politics and constructive engagement, maintaining that the APC remains committed to strengthening its support base ahead of future elections.
