Reproductive Health CDS Group Takes Health Awareness Campaign to the Community with Free STI Screening Outreach

The Reproductive Health Community Development Service (CDS) Group, NYSC Adamawa, organized a medical outreach aimed at promoting awareness and encouraging early detection of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) within the community. The program provided free testing and confidential counseling services for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis to members of the public who attended.
This initiative was carried out as part of the group's commitment to improving public health and helping individuals know their health status. The outreach focused on creating awareness about HIV, Hepatitis, and Syphilis, offering free and confidential testing, providing pre-test and post-test counseling, and educating community members on prevention and treatment options.
The event attracted a significant number of participants, including men, women, and youths, who showed strong interest in learning about the diseases and willingly underwent testing. Through the free services and professional guidance provided, many individuals were able to determine their health status and receive the necessary counseling and information.
Overall, the medical outreach was successful and impactful. It contributed meaningfully to improving health awareness and supporting disease prevention efforts in the community. *CORPS MEMBER FAITH AKOR COMMISSIONS RENOVATED TOILET FACILITY IN GOVERNMENT DAY SECONDARY SCHOOL KAREWA

The NYSC Community Development Service remains one of the key programmes of the scheme, encouraging Corps members to identify needs within their host communities and provide lasting solutions.

Corps member Faith Akor, AD/2B/0261 serving at Government Day Secondary School Karewa, successfully executed her second community development project through the renovation and commissioning of a toilet facility in the school to promote hygiene, dignity, and a healthier learning environment for both students and their teachers.

The event was attended by the Schedule Officer Mr. Monday Ethan, Zonal Inspector Mr. M. Chinedu, Principal Mr. Johnson Samari, Vice Principals of both the Junior and Senior Sections, representative of the Commissioner of Health Mrs. Agnes, the State Coordinator of Girls Get Equal Adamawa State Chapter, the founder of Elgothrim Concept, Explore Lead Global, founder of Sisterhood Haven, representative of the District Head, sponsors, philanthropists, students, and other invited guests.

Sponsors and supporters of the project included Logistics For Me, Rise and Reclaim Youth Initiative, alongside other contributors who supported the success of the programme.

In her welcome address, Faith Akor appreciated everyone present and stated that she saw a need within the school and decided to contribute her quota toward solving it. According to her, the project goes beyond environmental hygiene alone, as it also represents dignity, resilience, courage, and creating a safe environment for students, especially the girl child.

Speaking during the programme, the Principal Mr. Johnson Samari expressed gratitude and stated that he continually thank God for not rejecting Faith Akor when she was first posted to the school. He encouraged other Corps members to emulate her dedication to community development.

The Junior Secondary Principal Mrs lovely, also commended Faith Akor’s resilience and wished her success in her future endeavors and appreciated the NYSC scheme for posting her to GDSS karewa.

Representative of the Rise and Reclaim Youth Initiative and one of the sponsors, appreciated the proper use of resources and encouraged the school to maintain the facility.

The Zonal Inspector Mr. M. Chinedu praised Faith Akor’s commitment to community development and invited students from both the Junior and Senior Sections to share their thoughts on the project.

The students appreciated both her previous and current projects, stating that the toilet facility was previously in poor condition and thanking Faith Akor for bringing the renovation to reality.

Mr. Chinedu concluded by stating that Faith Akor truly represents the values of the NYSC scheme through impactful service. He encouraged the school to maintain the facility and expressed hope of returning for even bigger project commissioning in the future.

The programme ended with the official commissioning of the renovated toilet facility as Faith Akor appreciated NYSC, members of the SDGs CDS Group, sponsors, dignitaries, and all students present for their support towards the successful ex*****on of the project.

WARM GUIDELINES FOR 2026 BATCH “B” PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS (PCMs) AHEAD OF ORIENTATION COURSE
Dear Prospective Corps Members,
The National Youth Service Corps warmly welcomes you to the next exciting phase of your national service journey as the 2026 Batch “B” Orientation Course is scheduled to commence on 10th June, 2026.
As you prepare to travel to your various Orientation Camps across the country, we encourage you to make adequate preparations and carefully observe the following guidelines to ensure a safe, smooth, and memorable experience.
Your service year is a unique opportunity to learn, grow, build lasting friendships, and contribute meaningfully to national development. We are delighted to receive you and wish you a fulfilling and successful service year ahead.
IMPORTANT GUIDELINES
1. GO ALONG WITH ALL ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS
All PCMs are strongly advised to travel with the following original documents:
Call-up Letter
School Identity Card
Statement of Result/Certificate
Green Card
Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age
Marital Documents (for married women)
Recent Passport Photographs
Medical Fitness Certificate (where applicable)
Professional Licence/Certificates for regulated professions
Kindly ensure that all documents are neatly arranged and safely kept to avoid loss or damage.
2. VERIFY THAT ALL INFORMATION TALLIES
Before departure, carefully confirm that the details on your documents correspond correctly, especially:
Full Name
Date of Birth
Course of Study
Institution Attended
Date of Graduation
Passport Photograph
State of Deployment
Any discrepancy should be reported through the appropriate channels before camp registration.
3. TRAVEL EARLY AND PLAN PROPERLY
PCMs are encouraged to commence their journeys early enough to avoid unnecessary rush, fatigue, or late arrival at camp. Proper planning reduces stress and promotes safer movement.
4. AVOID NIGHT TRAVELLING
For your safety, kindly avoid travelling late into the night. If night falls while on transit, it is advisable to break your journey at a safe and reputable motor park, hotel, or security-approved location, and continue the next morning.
5. COMMUNICATE ONLY WITH IMMEDIATE FAMILY OR TRUSTED GUARDIANS
While travelling, communicate your movement only to your parents, guardians, or trusted relatives. Avoid sharing your travel details, camp location, or personal information with strangers or suspicious individuals to prevent security risks and fraudulent tracking.
6. FOLLOW OFFICIAL DIRECTIONAL VIDEOS AND NAVIGATION GUIDES
As many of you may be travelling to unfamiliar locations, kindly follow official directional videos and verified travel guidance provided through NYSC platforms.
PCMs are also encouraged to make proper use of Google Maps and other trusted navigation tools to locate camps and important transit points safely.
In case of necessity, you may contact the state to which you are deployed for proper guidance to avoid being stranded unnecessarily.
For those coming to Adamawa Orientation Camp, you may contact the admin of this platform or any known NYSC officials for assistance.
7. BEWARE OF FRAUDSTERS
Do not pay money to anyone promising relocation, camp posting adjustments, accommodation reservations, or special treatment. NYSC processes are official and transparent.
Always verify information through official NYSC channels.
8. KEEP EMERGENCY CONTACTS HANDY
Before departure, save important phone numbers, including:

Ensure your phone remains charged throughout your journey.
9. DRESS DECENTLY AND TRAVEL LIGHT
PCMs are advised to dress responsibly and travel with only essential luggage. Properly label your bags to avoid mix-ups or loss during transit.
For those arriving in Adamawa State, members of the NYSC Editorial and Publicity CDS Team will be available at the park from 8:00am – 6:00pm (on shift) to warmly welcome and direct you to camp.
10. MAINTAIN GOOD CONDUCT
Remember that you are ambassadors of your institutions, families, and the NYSC Scheme. Be respectful, law-abiding, disciplined, and security conscious throughout your journey and during the Orientation Course.
11. PRIORITISE YOUR HEALTH
Carry personal medications where necessary and maintain proper hygiene throughout your journey. Stay hydrated and avoid consuming food or drinks from suspicious or unsafe sources.
12. CULTURAL CARNIVAL
You may wish to come along with your traditional attire (optional) for the Cultural Carnival, where you will have the opportunity to proudly showcase your cultural identity and heritage.
CONCLUSION
The NYSC Orientation Course marks the beginning of an important national assignment and a life-changing experience filled with learning, service, unity, and personal growth.

EDUCATIONAL CDS GROUP ORGANISES QUIZ COMPETITION IN GUYUK LGA

The Educational Community Development Service (CDS) Group in Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Thursday, 21st May 2026, organised an inter-school quiz competition at Model Secondary School, Guyuk, aimed at promoting academic excellence and healthy intellectual engagement among students.
The event, which was coordinated under the supervision of the Local Government Inspector (LGI), Mr. Hassan Mohammed, brought together students and teachers from five secondary schools within the area. Participating schools included Baptist Model Academy, Lutheran Model Academy, Government Girls Day Secondary School (GGDSS) Hinjari, Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Tarigwalam, and Eagles Academy.
The competition featured various academic questions designed to test the knowledge, intelligence, and teamwork of the participating students. The atmosphere was lively and competitive as contestants demonstrated impressive academic abilities throughout the exercise.
At the end of the competition, GDSS Tarigwalam emerged overall winner to clinch the first position, while Baptist Model Academy secured the second position. GGDSS Hinjari came third.
Certificates of participation were presented to all participating schools in recognition of their involvement and commitment to academic development. Prizes were also awarded to the schools that emerged in first, second, and third positions.
Speaking during the event, the organisers commended the students for their outstanding performances and encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and continue striving for academic excellence. The programme also highlighted the commitment of the NYSC Educational CDS Group towards supporting education and youth development in the community.

WE ARE STILL STRONG AND MOVING: NYSC ADAMAWA CELEBRATES NYSC @ 53

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Adamawa State, on Friday, 22nd May 2026, joined the nationwide celebration of NYSC at 53 with a colourful event held at the Federal Secretariat, Yola.

In her opening remarks, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, affirmed that the NYSC Scheme, established in 1973, has remained relevant and impactful over the years, stressing that it has not outlived its usefulness in nation-building and fostering unity among Nigerians.

She highlighted the immense contributions of the Scheme to various sectors of the nation’s development, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and community development services. According to her, the footprints of NYSC are visible across communities nationwide through numerous impactful projects and humanitarian services rendered by corps members.

Mrs. Osoroh further stated that as the Scheme continues to evolve with time, NYSC remains committed to giving its best in service to the nation and sustaining its core mandate of national integration.

As part of activities marking the celebration, staff and corps members embarked on a rally across parts of Adamawa State, led by the State Coordinator, to create public awareness and share the joy of the anniversary with residents.
The atmosphere became more vibrant after the rally as the State Coordinator joined corps members in dancing to celebrate the enduring legacy of the Scheme.

The event climaxed with the cutting of the anniversary cake, group photographs, and the sharing of refreshments among participants, bringing the colourful celebration to a memorable close.

NYSC Adamawa Celebrates Arrival of 2026 Promotion Letters

It was a moment of joy, excitement, and fulfilment at the NYSC Adamawa State Secretariat as the long-awaited 2026 promotion letters finally arrived and were officially presented to deserving staff members by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu.
The atmosphere was filled with smiles and appreciation as officers gathered to receive their promotion letters, marking a significant milestone in their years of dedication, commitment, and selfless service to the Scheme and the nation.
Speaking during the brief presentation ceremony, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu congratulated all the promoted officers and described the promotion as a well-deserved reward for hard work, discipline, and professionalism. She encouraged the beneficiaries to see the elevation as a call to greater responsibility and higher commitment to service delivery.
The promotions cut across different cadres, including Deputy Director, Assistant Directors, Chief Inspectors, Chief Executive Officers, Inspectors I, and several others, reflecting the organisation’s recognition of diligence and outstanding performance.
Responding on behalf of the promoted staff, Mr. Kamfani expressed profound gratitude to the NYSC management for the recognition and appreciation of their efforts.
