Press Statement on Our Decampment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC)

We, the undersigned members and supporters of the Fresh Air movement, wish to formally announce our decision to decamp from our former political platform and join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which we recognize as the leading and most credible platform for the emerging coalition of opposition parties in Nigeria.

Our decision to join the ADC is driven by our strong conviction that Nigeria urgently needs a genuine alternative to rescue our democracy, promote good governance, and ensure a better future for all citizens. We believe the ADC’s inclusive vision and commitment to building a broad-based coalition of patriotic Nigerians align with our values and aspirations.

During our visit to Hon. Muhammad Shuwa, the leader of thee party in Adamawa State, we expressed our unreserved 100% loyalty to the ADC and the broader opposition coalition. We assured him of our readiness to work tirelessly to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, mobilize support, and deliver electoral victories in Adamawa State and beyond.

We call on all well-meaning citizens, especially in Adamawa State, to join hands with us in building this coalition of hope, unity, and progress. Together, we can give our people the leadership they truly deserve.

Thank you.

Signed:

ARE WE QUICK TO FORGET?

In 2019, the Adamawa State Scholarship Board made a public announcement, inviting qualified and ambitious students to apply for a fully funded scholarship to study Engineering in India. The criteria were clear—candidates needed at least 7 Credits in WAEC to be eligible.

On November 16, 2019, an examination was conducted to select the best candidates. However, after the results were released, the number of students who met the required pass mark was not enough. To ensure more deserving students benefited, a second exam was scheduled to fill the remaining slots.

With taxpayers’ money, the government invested in these students, giving them the rare opportunity to study abroad. In return, they are expected to serve the Adamawa State government—a fair and reasonable way to give back to the good people who funded their education. So why the sudden outcry over their automatic employment?

The entire process was free, fair, and transparent. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri gave children of the common man a chance to access world-class education. Now, it’s time for them to apply the knowledge they’ve gained to develop our great state.

Let’s not be quick to forget the vision behind this investment. These young engineers are not just employees—they are a return on investment for Adamawa’s future.
