Tools4Change

Tools4Change With these items, people can learn a trade or start their own small company. We do this work under the international banner 'Tools4Change'.

We believe that everyone deserves a chance to build up a reasonable minimum living standard, and this applies as much to people in The Netherlands as in developing countries. In our workshop, we refurbish used tools (sewing- and knitting machines, bicycles, computers and tools for technical professions), and send these to projects in developing countries. We are talking about tools and machines fo

r use in fields such as textile processing (sewing, knitting), agriculture, administration and many other technical professions. As technical professions, you could think about becoming a carpenter, plumber, car mechanic, electrician, metal worker and bricklayer. We put together sets of tools for each trade or profession: either individual sets or sets for groups of people. In the Netherlands, we work with people who have special needs (such as autism or a mental health issue), and with volunteers and the (longer term) unemployed. In developing countries, the refurbished tools go to training centres and other social organisations, and thereby give the most vulnerable in society a chance of work and an income. Our Dutch name ‘Betuwe Wereldwijd’ refers to the region 'The Betuwe' where our workshop is based. And 'Wereldwijd' simply means 'Worldwide'.

It is always wonderful to receive positive feedback from our partners. Seeing how the tools and machines are being used gives us so much motivation!

We received the following report from PFZ in Zambia:
PF Zambia is very happy with both the quality and quantity of the donated materials. The construction teams are especially pleased with the carpentry and masonry tools, while the electric equipment, such as drills and sanders, is also working extremely well.

Our irons, embroidery machines, and electric sewing machines are all being used successfully. The computers and routers from BWW, carefully refurbished in Culemborg, have been given a valuable second life and are now used by trainees for administration and internet access.

The refurbished bicycles are also making a real difference. Some are even adapted locally for people with disabilities, improving their mobility and helping them participate more actively in society.

Thank you to everyone who helps make this possible!

Behind every shipment lies a world of collecting, repairing, refurbishing, sorting, and packing. Every day, our dedicated staff and volunteers work hard to prepare used—but still perfectly usable—tools, computers, and machines for a second life.
Thanks to their efforts—and the generous support of our donors—our warehouses are filled with valuable materials, ready to be shipped.
Because good tools and equipment deserve a second chance—just like the young people who will be using them. 💪🌍

Great news! 🎉 A container filled to the brim has started its journey to Ndola, Zambia.

In our workshop, we have been working hard to carefully prepare all tools, machines, and materials for transport. This shipment is destined for five organisations: Prison Fellowship Zambia(PFZ), community support project-ALEJO CSP, CIDC,Cheshire Homes Society, and the Holy Family Rehabilitation Center (HFRC).

Thanks to this container, these organisations will be able to train more people, increase self-reliance, and create greater economic opportunities. In this way, Betuwe Wereldwijd supports young people and adults in Zambia in taking their future into their own hands.

Are you an NGO, school, or community project working to create opportunities and build skills?
In our workshop, we give used tools a second life — refurbishing sewing and knitting machines, bicycles, computers, and equipment for technical professions — and sending them to projects in developing countries where they can make real impact.
These tools help support education, vocational training, and local entrepreneurship.
Do you have a project that could benefit from this? We would love to hear from you.
Apply for tools by downloading the application form here: https://www.betuwewereldwijd.nl/request

MVIMWA VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Where does our equipment end up?
“Our tools make the difference”

Thanks to the support of donors, Betuwe Wereldwijd was able to deliver tools and machines to the training center in 2025. The equipment is now used daily in practical lessons across various training programs.

Hands-on experience. Students work intensively with our sewing machines, carpentry tools, plumbing and masonry equipment, as well as electrical training sets. Computers and laptops are also used for theory, reports, and developing digital skills. This gives students valuable hands-on experience and allows them to work with materials similar to those used in real-life jobs.

Growing independence. The impact is clearly visible: students are more motivated, work more safely, and produce higher-quality results. Teachers are able to provide better instruction and give practical demonstrations. In this way, the tools from Betuwe Wereldwijd directly contribute to better opportunities for employment, internships, or starting their own business.

New opportunities. The training center therefore expresses its sincere gratitude to Betuwe Wereldwijd and all donors who made this possible. Thanks to their support, young people in Tanzania are given new opportunities for the future.
