MaxaM Magazine | December 2025 Issue

This month, we turn the spotlight to Patrick Abels, the CEO of Celestial Universe, whose leadership has quietly but powerfully shaped the foundation’s growth, values, and heart. From financial stewardship to operational vision, he stands beside the movement not just as a leader, but as a believer in what women can build when purpose meets opportunity.

His story reminds us that change is never driven by a single crown or a single moment. It is carried by people who choose to stand behind the mission, to lift women forward, and to build systems that empower rather than limit. In this issue, we meet the man who champions inclusivity, supports advocacy work, and proves that authentic leadership thrives in service.

Jollibee Christmas Meal Distribution 2025 Fundraising
Liwanag Project – MaxaM Foundation

Every Christmas, Filipino families long for moments of joy, the kind that make a child feel seen, loved, and included. Last year, through a simple family initiative, we were able to share 100 Jollibee meals with children in our hometown. It was a small act of giving, yet the impact stayed with us. The spark in their eyes, the laughter, and the feeling that someone remembered them are the moments that become childhood memories that outshine hardship.

This December, the MaxaM Foundation hopes to bring that same joy to more children across the Municipality of Salcedo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, reaching those who rarely, if ever, get to experience something special during the holidays. Our goal is to expand from 100 meals to as many children as possible, especially those from marginalised barangays who face hunger, financial strain, or unstable home environments.

Why Jollibee? Because it is the heart of Filipino childhood.

For many Filipinos, Jollibee is more than a fast-food restaurant. It represents celebration, family bonding, and belonging. The comfort of childhood in a red-and-yellow wrapping. A Jollibee meal is often reserved for rare moments: birthdays, graduations, or a parent’s once-in-a-year chance to treat their child. For families with limited resources, this is a luxury they cannot often provide.

Giving Jollibee to underprivileged children during Christmas is more than handing out meals. It gives them a taste of joy that feels out of reach, a moment of pride and excitement, a memory that stays long after the season ends and a sense that someone out there cares about their happiness.

These small joys matter. They soften the loneliness of poverty and remind a child that they are not forgotten.

When donations allow, we also prepare Noche Buena food packs for families who cannot afford a Christmas meal. In Filipino culture, Noche Buena is one of the most meaningful moments of the year where families gather around simple dishes, share stories, and celebrate togetherness. For many families living day to day, even the basics like spaghetti, bread, or fruit salad can be out of reach.

Providing a Noche Buena pack gives a family the chance to celebrate like everyone else and a moment of normalcy in the middle of hardship.

It allows them to sit down at a meal they did not have to sacrifice for and to feel, even for one night, that life is kinder and more hopeful.

How You Can Help

Your support has the power to reach more than 100 children across 21 villages and extend to families who need the comfort of a Christmas meal. Whether through a Jollibee treat or a Noche Buena pack, your generosity becomes a light in someone’s home during the holidays.

The Liwanag Project exists to bring light where life feels heavy. This Christmas, that light can come from you.

As a gesture of gratitude, all donors will be acknowledged (with permission) in the January 2026 Issue of MaxaM Magazine, where we will share highlights and photos from the Jollibee Christmas Meal Distribution and the Noche Buena pack program. It is our way of honouring your kindness and showing exactly how your support helped brighten the season for the families we serve.
