The Embassy looks after the welfare of the Irish community in The Netherlands and provides consular support to Irish citizens.

Ambassador Ann Derwin and the members of the Embassy Team visited ESA - European Space Agency’s European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk earlier this week. Thank you to Edmund Williams and colleagues for the insights and engaging tour of the facilities and to all the 🇮🇪 Irish colleagues who joined the reception.

Ireland has been a member of ESA since 1975 and will invest more than €170 million in ESA programmes through 2030, including through the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland in Mullingar launched in February this year.

The spiral structure of galaxies, first identified using the Great Telescope at Birr Castle, features in the Irish Presidency logo. During our Presidency, Ireland 🇮🇪 will focus on enhancing the competitiveness of the 🇪🇺 space sector.

Ambassador Ann Derwin was delighted to be back at the One Health One Environment EU European Medicines Agency and meet again with Executive Director Emer Cooke and Irish EMA staff, both in person and online, to discuss the Irish Presidency’s health agenda and areas of strategic focus.

Under the theme “Investing in health to enable competitiveness”, Ireland is committed to strengthening the EU’s global competitiveness and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, effective healthcare for 🇪🇺 citizens.

The Irish government is co-sponsoring the 2026 Invincible Tour of the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra in honour of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Ireland remains steadfast in our support for Ukraine, with support for Ukraine serving as a horizontal priority throughout 🇮🇪 Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Ambassador Derwin was honoured to attend the concert at Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Embassy of Ukraine in the Netherlands Ukrainian Ambassador to the Netherlands H.E. Andriy Kostin and Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken Head of International Culture Unit Daniël Stork, and to meet with conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson - Conductor.

This year, Amsterdam hosts as the city celebrates 30 years of World Pride Amsterdam, 25 years of legal same-sex marriage in 🇳🇱 and 80 years of COC Nederland - the oldest still-operating LGBTI organization in the world. Today the 🇮🇪 Embassy was to support the (ERC) float at Amsterdam Canal Pride together with Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken and ERC member state embassies.

Legal adviser Barra Lysaght represented the Embassy together with his husband, joining the ERC and diplomatic corps to celebrate love and diversity. As recent weeks have shown, the promotion and protection of LGBTQIA+ rights at home and abroad remains a vital priority 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️.

Thank you to ERC co-chair SPAIN arts & culture in the Netherlands for organising this stunning float honouring the spirit of liberation of Barcelona artist .

Curated by the Hamilton Gallery and Pulchri Studio | Contemporary Art Gallery | The Hague in the international city of peace and justice and featuring the artworks of over 200 artists from the Netherlands and Ireland inspired by the poetry of Moya Cannon, it tells the story of emigration and integration.
