Niet alleen in Nederland, maar ook in Caribisch Nederland stijgen de energieprijzen. Om het effect van deze stijgende energieprijzen te dempen, wordt de accijns op benzine op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba per 1 april tot het einde van het jaar tijdelijk verlaagd, maakt staatssecretaris van Rij vandaag bekend.
Dit betekent dat tot het einde van dit jaar de accijns op benzine in Caribisch Nederland wordt verlaagd met 16 USD cent per liter. Vanaf 1 april is de accijns op een liter benzine (afgerond) op Bonaire 16 USD cent en op Sint Eustatius en Saba 8 USD cent. Op diesel wordt in Caribisch Nederland al geen accijns geheven. De openbare lichamen op Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba zullen aan de hand van de accijnsverlaging de benzineprijs opnieuw vaststellen en hierover communiceren.
Deze maatregel maakt onderdeel uit van het pakket van 5 miljoen euro dat het kabinet beschikbaar heeft gesteld voor Caribisch Nederland.

Both in the Netherlands and in Caribbean Netherlands the energy prices are rising. To mitigate the effect on the energy prices, the excise duty on petrol on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba temporarily will be reduced from the 1st of April until the end of this year, State Secretary van Rij announced.
This means that until the end of the year the excise duty on petrol in Caribbean Netherlands is being reduced by 16 USD cents per liter. As of the 1st of April the excise duty on a liter of petrol is (rounded to) 16 USD cents on Bonaire and 8 USD cents on St. Eustatius and Saba. In the Caribbean Netherlands no excise duty is levied on diesel. The public entities on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba will redefine the petrol prices on the basis of the excise duty reduction and will communicate about this.
This measure is part of the 5 million euros the Dutch government has made available for Caribbean Netherlands.
