All eyes on Toronto!

As Canada hosts its first FIFA World Cup 2026™ game today, sport is doing what it does best — bringing people together across cultures, communities, and borders, including here in The Netherlands.

Thank you Gijs de Jong and KNVB for celebrating our friendship!

As a co-host of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, Canada 🇨🇦 is proud to play a role in bringing the world together through sport. Soccer has a unique way of crossing borders, languages, and cultures and that's why we are pleased to participate in this video, a collaboration by host country embassies U.S. Embassy The Hague & Embajada de México en los Países Bajos in The Hague.

🌱♻️ – Day 5: Greening Our Space Together

As part of our commitment to sustainability and biodiversity, we are proud of our collaboration with

Together, we have “de-stoned” areas around our Chancery, removing paving stones and replacing them with plants and permeable surfaces to reduce heat stress, improve water absorption, and support urban biodiversity.

We also introduced more greenery, including native plants provided through this initiative, helping create a healthier and more resilient environment and a welcoming habitat for our bees and other pollinators. 🐝

This project shows how small changes to our built environment can have a meaningful impact.

 Less stone, more life
🌎 Cooler, greener cities
🤝 Strong local partnerships

♻️🌍 – Day 4: Circularity in Action

Being certified Zero Waste means rethinking the way we work. Reuse and upcycling are now part of who we are.

Through our partnership with , a nonprofit organisation advancing social inclusion through circular economy projects, we have given new life to materials that would otherwise have been discarded.

Old event banners, something many organizations have tucked away, have been transformed into tote bags, passport covers, and gift pouches.

Each item tells a story:

✨ Inclusion
✨ Creativity
✨ Purpose

By upcycling, we are not only reducing waste, we are giving back and supporting meaningful community initiatives.

At its core, Zero Waste is about seeing value differently: materials are not discarded, they are transformed.

Giving new life to items for everyone to enjoy!

🚲🌍 Happy !

In the Netherlands, cycling is more than just a way to get around, it’s a way of life. There’s even a term for it: , or “cycling happiness.” It captures the everyday joy, freedom, and wellbeing that come from choosing the bike, something deeply embedded in Dutch culture.

Staff at the Embassy of Canada to the Netherlands are proud to support this mindset through smart and sustainable mobility:

🔹 Secure bike shelters, including one powered by solar panels
🔹 An on-site bike repair station
🔹 Easy access to bicycles for meetings and daily travel
🔹 Infrastructure that makes cycling convenient, safe, and appealing

By making cycling the easy choice, we support the wellbeing of our team while helping reduce our environmental footprint.

Together, we’re pedalling toward healthier people, smarter infrastructure, and more sustainable cities. ♻️
