Supporting international LGBTQIA+ parents in Utrecht

Our partner Parenting Across Borders is organising a dialogue series for international LGBTQIA+ parents during the first 1,000 days of parenthood. This series offers a safe and inclusive space to connect, share experiences and support one another.

What to expect:
- Building and maintaining support networks
- Identity shifts and becoming a q***r parent
- Parenting across cultures
- Navigating the Dutch healthcare system
- Multilingual parenting

An evening that truly lived up to its purpose. Last week, we had the pleasure of being at the city gathering in the City Hall of Utrecht.

If you bring a diverse group of people from across the city together, put some delicious food on the table, space is created for open conversations, new connections, and shared perspectives. Although it was raining outside, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of energy.

It was inspiring to see how meaningful dialogue over a dinner can strengthen understanding and community ties. A great example of how Utrecht continues to bring people together in a positive and impactful way.

A great 904th birthday celebration for the city of Utrecht! 🥳

Celebrate the birthday of Utrecht 🥳

On Tuesday, June 2, Utrecht celebrates its 904th birthday. You’re invited to join us at the Stadhuisplein for a shared dinner where communities come together to meet, connect and enjoy a meal.

Join us between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM for food, music and great conversations. Everyone is welcome, and a vegetarian and halal dinner will be provided.

Before dinner, you can also attend a session on Utrecht’s q***r history from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at City Hall.

Where strangers turn into real connections

Last Thursday’s Internationals Networking Event definitely did not disappoint. We had a full room of people, a strong mix of service providers, plenty of great conversations going on and many new connections being made.

Some of our favourite reactions:

Moments like these remind us why this work matters.

For many internationals, building a network, finding your way in a new country and feeling at home doesn’t happen overnight. It needs the right place, the right moment and the right people. Bring those together and something special happens. That’s exactly what we aim to create at Utrecht International Center.
