Stavanger kommune and Rogaland kunstsenter is pleased to welcome you to a meet & greet with artist duo Sans façon.
The artists are currently visiting Stavanger to begin their project Forever Våland, satt i stein and would like to meet up. This will be an informal presentation of their art practice and the way they approach working with places and communities.
Their project for Stavanger proposes a series of site-specific stone plinths, or pedestals, that mark and honour a series of everyday activities, encounters, and traditions in the area. Instead of monuments to individuals or events, the project aims to highlight the collective and the informal – the “micro-geographies” of the neighbourhood. As part of their research into the place they would love to hear from you about your personal experiences and stories of Våland, it might be the places to watch birds, the spots to hang out on a warm evening with your friends, the best place to follow the Våland Rennebilløp or the perfect spot to start tobogganing on a snowy day.
This will be an informal discussion and you are welcome to participate or to observe.
About the artists
Sans façon is an art practice that responds to the relationship between people and place. Working internationally, their approach renews awareness and tempts interaction with the surroundings, and is realized through networks of communities, organizations and individuals.
The people behind the duo is Charles Blanc and Tristan Surtees.
