Did you know sea ice plays a crucial role in ocean connectivity? 🌊 It regulates the Earth's climate, drives ocean currents, provides the foundation for livelihoods, and in the literal sense, it serves as transport between communities.

The ocean connects us all, both directly and indirectly. To foster cooperation, knowledge sharing and action on this crucial topic, the Kingdom of Denmark's Arctic Council Chairship is hosting the Ocean Connectivity Conference 26-28 May.

We need circumpolar cooperation to support effective governance, responsible resource management and best practices for mitigation and adaptation efforts in light of significant changes in the marine environment.

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝 Here in the Arctic, Bombus Polaris is our Queen B 👑

Did you know that the Arctic bumblebee plays a crucial role as a primary pollinator in Arctic ecosystems? Despite their importance, much remains unknown about bees and other pollinators in the Arctic.

Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna advocates for monitoring Arctic bumblebees and other pollinators through the Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Program to better understand these tiny Arctic heroes.

The is to raise awareness of the importance of bees and the threats they are facing.

Today is World Migratory Bird Day 🐦

In the Arctic, migratory birds have a particular importance due to their ecological, cultural and economic value. However, many Arctic-breeding bird populations are declining at alarming rates. Birds face unevenly distributed threats around the globe and throughout entire migration routes, such as climate change, habitat loss and plastic pollution.

The Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna project "Arctic Migratory Birds Initiative" (AMBI) conducts activities to help conserve populations of priority Arctic-breeding migratory birds in decline.

🌊 The Ocean is one of five priorities for the Kingdom of Denmark Chairship.

From 26–28 May, the Kingdom of Denmark Chairship will host a flagship event, the Ocean Connectivity Conference, in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. The program explores how to best adapt to changes in the marine environment in a sustainable way, and what measures can support effective ocean governance to ensure that marine resources are managed responsibly in the years ahead 🐟
