Heartfelt Condolences & Solidarity 🕊️

Deeply saddened by the devastating tragedy that has struck the family of Mr. Prakash Joshi, a dedicated chess organizer, player, and former President of the Nuwakot District Chess Association.

Our deepest condolences to Mr. Joshi and his family during this unimaginable time. We sincerely pray for the safe rescue of the five missing family members and strength and courage for everyone affected by this tragedy.

The entire chess community of Nepal stands united in solidarity, hope, and support. 🙏

The 26th Nepal National Chess Championship and the 11th Nepal Women’s National Chess Championship 2026 have concluded in Damak, Koshi Province, Nepal.

In the Open section, FM Rupesh Jaiswal successfully defended his national title with a dominant performance, finishing on 9.5/11 and remaining undefeated throughout the event. In the Women’s section, Kritisara Adhikari claimed the national title with 8.5/11, securing first place despite a mid-tournament setback.

Both events featured the country’s top players competing in a round-robin format, and also served as qualification for Nepal’s teams for the 46th Chess Olympiad.
