Why are we ignoring this looming calamity?
What will happen as a result of this rapid melting?
Are we taking responsibility for our future and that of the next generation?
Are we ensuring a secure and sustainable livelihood for the children who are just being born?

They are concerned that the unnecessary deposition of silt and gravel in the river will increase the risk of flooding.
