In addition to the USD 1 million in immediate aid announced on August 27, a further USD 1 million will be provided. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is also deploying Swiss Humanitarian Aid (SKH) experts to support resilient reconstruction.

The impact of disaster goes beyond physical damage. Timely psychosocial support can help people cope with loss, restore a sense of normalcy and take the first steps towards recovery.

Currently, 112 mental health and psychosocial counsellors are on the ground in Nuwakot and Rasuwa, supporting flood-affected families and the disaster responders.

Helplines and referral services at holding centres support women, children, senior citizens and people from marginalized communities.🇨🇭Switzerland contributes to this vital effort along with its partners.

Responding to the devastating floods in Nepal, Switzerland is providing about USD 1 million for relief efforts delivered by the United Nations - supporting clean water, shelter, food assistance, health care, and psycho-social support for affected communities.

This complements Switzerland’s longer-term support to strengthen Nepal’s disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and resilience through improved hazard modelling and the development of early warning systems.
