Department of Environment Department of Environment The word environment is a cross-cutting subject, which covers nearly all the living and non-living entities.

Addressing the ever increasing concerns of climate change and its management has becoming widespread and Nepal cannot remain in isolation from its effect even though it has almost negligible contribution in carbon sequestration. In order to address these issues in Nepal, realization of the functional level of working entities within the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MoSTE) was r

ealized since long time however, the establishment of Department of Environment (DoEnv) was only resulted when the Government of Nepal has enacted the bill in July 2012 (As of 12 Shravan 2069). After eight months of its formal establishment, Department has been stationed at IT Park, Panuati, Kavreplanchowk District in IT building. It is widely believed that this Department will be instrumental in dealing environmental related problems such as air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, sound pollution and adaptation of the climate change so as to maintain and enhance the quality environment for the descent in the country. Similarly, the Department works under the umbrella of MoSTE and assist in formulating policy and works as per the rules and regulations of the Government of Nepal and commitments as expressed in different treaties and conventions.
