Ahipara Volunteer Fire Brigade

Ahipara Volunteer Fire Brigade Ahipara is located 14km west of Kaitaia at the southern region end of the famous 90 mile beach incorporating Shipwrecks bay.

This bay is a popular surfing location commonly known as 'shippies'. It gained its name from the number of ships claimed in the area. One of these was the schooner 'Favorite' which sank in April 1870, the remains of this wreck can still be seen in the low tide surf. The name Ahipara means sacred fire and it is believed that this is the reason that the area boasts some spectacular fiery sunset

Today is International Women’s Day, and we want to acknowledge the amazing wāhine who are part of our brigade 🔥

Between them, they wear many titles: Firefighter, Māmā, Aunty, Social Support Worker, Beekeeper, Manager, Coach, Business Owner and so much more.

But if there’s one title that sums them up best - MANA WĀHINE 💪🏽🔥

You’ll see them around our community, and standing alongside the rest of the crew on call outs when our community needs it most.

Thank you for everything you do to help keep our community safe.

Big Congratulations to Leanne! 🫡

A huge congratulations to Leanne Stapleton, who has successfully completed her Volunteer Firefighter Training and is now officially part of the front line! 🚒👏

A truly special moment, with Leanne being proudly presented her epaulettes by her mum, QFF Paula 🥹 A proud family milestone and one worth celebrating. ❤️🔥

We’re incredibly proud to have Leanne on board and can’t wait to see her journey continue with the brigade. 🚒🎉

SANTA IS COMING TO TOWN 🎄🎅🏽🍬

It’s that time of the year where we are starting to prep for our annual lolly run! This Ahipara Tradition heavily relies on donations from the community!

If you would like to support, lollies can be dropped off to the station on Wednesday nights, or if you PM us, we can organise a pick up/drop off.

Or you can koha some putea straight into our account:

We appreciate any koha that can be given, and nothing goes to waste! We couldn’t do it without our community, whanau and friends ❤️🍬
