Have you submitted on Auckland Council’s Long Term Plan yet? Don’t worry, there’s still time!
Submissions close tomorrow night at 11:59 pm.

The loss of significant funding, particularly from the Regional Fuel Tax, means the council is looking at significant rates increases and significant cuts. Even the Mayor’s “Central Proposal” involves a lot of potential cuts to services, delays to current plans and asset sales.

So let Auckland council know you
- Support the “pay more, get more” budget proposal
- Support the funding uplift for local boards to achieve funding equity, rather than a reallocation of funding.
- Support the Climate Action Targeted Rate (CATR)
- Support the resumption of the Natural Environment Targeted Rate (NETR)
- Support the resumption of the Water Quality Targeted Rate (WQTR)
- Oppose the proposed 35 year lease of the Ports of Auckland
- Support options 1 and 3 for North Harbour Stadium

Shore Action missing in action on climate change

I believe it has taken 6 years, but we now have got a local Zero Waste Hub..in Kaipatiki! (like the one in Devonport, but different) check it out here https://www.localised.nz/zerowastehubs

It is in the capable hands of Carla van Walen, and is still setting up systems, so it is not open to the public, yet. This crew take delivery of the NS inorganic collection, and slow the 'Waste stream down'. I'm not sure the origins of the saying 'one person's junk, is another person's treasure' ... but this place is fantastic!

The goal is a circular economy- we currently reuse 7%, if we got it up to 19%, it would be a game changer.

Tēnā koutou, It is great to get things underway finally. You have read a bit about Ryan, and you will get to see more of him over the next 4 weeks. I met Ryan just on 3 years ago, amongst 85000 other people who marched in the School Strike 4 Climate in Auckland City. There were 170000 across the country. He impressed me then, with his knowledge and understanding of what is at stake, and I am please to have this young fella wanting to take leadership with me.
I have done some building, but my training and experience is in Social Work and community development. Building people, building community, building relationships. I am a Social Worker by profession, and an involved father of three young adults of Samoan descent. I have a strong appreciation for celebrating diversity and understand the need to be culturally responsive in both at home and the work place. I am passionate about providing services that truly respond to people's needs. I enjoyed the challenges of service development and encouraging stakeholders to think and respond in ways that serve more people and is value for money.

Kia ora, I'm Ryan Nicholls. I’m a student and a daily public transport user. I grew up in Totara Vale, which I still call home. I’m standing because I want to bring a fresh new perspective to local government. I want to be a representative for future generations and ensure that the decisions we make now are fit for the decades to come. I want to ensure that climate action is put at the forefront of local board decision making.

Welcome to Living Kaipātiki.

The logo inspiration comes from where we live, the waters of the Waitematā, the forest down to the water line and the sky above. With the streams and trails connecting our communities.

With the local body elections in October, two members of the Kaipātiki Voice team are not standing again, Ann Hartley has decided to retire, and Cindy is focusing on her medical career. So the decision was made to retire Kaipātiki Voice Ticket.

Ann Hartley has given many years of service to this community and has had a long career in both local government and as a member of parliament. Locally, Ann stood for Shore Voice 2010 when Auckland (SuperCity) was formed and was elected on to council as a representative of the North Shore. In 2013 Kaipātiki Voice was formed and won an election mandate, with Ann Hartley, Lindsay Waugh, Richard Hills, Kay McIntyre and Danielle Grant winning seats. Ann is most proud of securing land into public ownership for Takapuna Beach Reserve, Shepherds Park and Centennial Park. Ann wishes Living Kaipātiki well.

Our Vison
Living Kaipātiki is looking to the future needs of our community. We will continue to be the progressive voice of Kaipātiki, with a focus on an environmentally sustainable future. Living Kaipātiki will continue to invest in the environment, including pest-free initiatives and bush track upgrades. With a fresh approach on how we work with the council, we will use long term thinking to make sustainable changes. We believe the local board can do more to support the well-being of the people of Kaipātiki. Living Kaipātiki is about building relationships across local and central government and working together to get things done.

In this year's local board elections, Living Kaipātiki consists of Andrew Shaw and Ryan Nicholls.
