It is also a powerful reminder of the deepening friendship between India and New Zealand—two vibrant democracies connected by shared values, growing trade, innovation, education, and, above all, the people who build bridges every single day.

Tomorrow, thousands from across New Zealand will gather as one community to celebrate this historic occasion. It will be a day of pride, unity, and optimism for the future of the India–New Zealand relationship.

The past couple of weeks have been incredibly busy, moving from one panel discussion to another, and from one event to the next.

I've had the privilege of serving as a panelist, speaker, and distinguished guest across discussions on business, community development, trade, leadership, and social cohesion. Every event has been an opportunity to learn from others while also sharing my own experiences, perspectives, and knowledge.

I genuinely enjoy these conversations because they bring together people with diverse ideas and backgrounds, all working towards stronger communities and a better future. If my insights can help inspire a new idea, solve a challenge, get someone an award or encourage someone to take the next step, then I consider my time well spent.

Thank you to all the organisations for the invitation and to everyone who participated in these meaningful discussions. Looking forward to many more conversations that help our communities and businesses thrive together.

As a dog lover, I support the decision to end greyhound racing in New Zealand.

From an animal welfare perspective, this is the right step. No sport or industry should exist where the wellbeing of dogs is under consistent concern.

But I also think it’s important we talk honestly about how this transition is handled.

Behind this decision are real dogs and real people:
• Dogs who need safe, proper rehoming — not rushed outcomes
• People and businesses whose entire livelihoods have been built around this industry

My concern is not the decision itself — but the ex*****on.

A more structured transition period (12 months or more) could have helped:
✔ Ensure every effort is made to rehome dogs responsibly
✔ Stop breeding in a controlled, managed way
✔ Give workers and small businesses time to adapt and move forward
✔ Avoid unintended harm during a rushed exit

Being a dog lover means caring not just about ending an industry — but about what happens to every single dog caught in it.

Progress matters. But so does responsibility in how we get there.
