Sport never stops in Auckland! Fresh from celebrating Auckland FC's historic A-League grand final win at the weekend, I was at Eden Park today for the announcement that the One NZ Warriors will play at the venue on Anzac Day next year.

The NRL has always done a great job commemorating Anzac Day and it's fantastic that the Warriors will be able to do just that in their home town next season.

Following on from Auckland FC’s historic 1-0 win over Sydney to claim the A-League title, it was great to be able to see the team today.

There was a huge crowd that gathered at Takutai Square to celebrate and see the boys lift the trophy again.

Well done to the club’s owners, Nick Becker, Steve Corica and all the players, you’ve done the city proud.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Auckland FC team before their A-League final against Sydney at Go Media Stadium.

I'm so proud of what this team has achieved. It won't just be Aucklanders cheering them on this weekend, the whole country is behind them.

Just a reminder if you’re going to the final, public transport is free with your game ticket from 4.30pm.

Let's go guys!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the launch event for David Nyika's title elimination fight against Floyd Masson, which is on August 8 at Eventfinda Stadium in Auckland.

David is a wonderful guy and like all other New Zealanders, I'm wishing him all the best for his big night.

In lieu of a bed night levy, I've taken it upon myself to boost our local hospitality sector! Thanks to The Corner Store...

If you were at Auckland FC’s penalty shootout win over Melbourne City FC last weekend you’ll know just how good that was.

I was there. I’m still not over it.

Now the boys are back at Go Media Stadium this Saturday for a semifinal against Adelaide United FC.

Let’s pack it out and be the 12th man.

And the good news is that the club have persuaded the A-League to drop the ticket prices.

Most tickets are just $30.

As a mayor who hates wasteful spending, that sounds like a cracking deal.

I'm a businessman people go to to make deals. Seymour's the one who had to go ballroom dancing to get noticed.
