Hiking with dogs is one of the best things on earth.
Until people forget dogs can overheat, burn their paws, get injured, run into wildlife, or push themselves WAY past their limits trying to keep up.
A lot of bad trail days start with:
“she’ll be right.”
And honestly… sometimes she won’t 😂
The good news:
most problems are avoidable if you slow down, pay attention & prepare properly.
Different countries come with different risks too:
• USA → snakes, bears, coyotes
• Australia → heat & snakes
• Europe → ticks & livestock
• New Zealand → exposed terrain, cliffs & harsh weather shifts
The biggest thing though?
Your dog trusts you completely out there.
Which means:
water matters
rest matters
recall matters
and knowing when to turn around matters too
We’ve put together a bunch of honest dog hiking guides covering:
• trail safety
• wildlife awareness
• heat & hydration
• beginner tips
• gear

• and mistakes people make constantly
