11/04/2026

Hi team,

With Cyclone Vaianu expected to arrive tonight, we are preparing the Community Centre to operate as a shelter.

We’re asking for support, if you’re available, please come down at 4:30pm. If you have a mattress or pillow you can bring along, that would be greatly appreciated.

We also welcome anyone who is able to volunteer their time to help.

Thanks everyone 🙏

⚠️ Severe Weather Alert Communities 🚨

A period of severe gale-force winds is expected across Auckland from late Saturday night through to Sunday evening. Winds may shift from strong easterlies to powerful southwesterlies, with gusts reaching up to 130km/h in exposed areas. There is also a chance conditions could escalate further.

What this means:
• Possible damage to trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures
• Hazardous driving conditions, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles

Please take precautions:
• Secure any loose outdoor items
• Stay indoors where possible during peak conditions
• Drive with extra care

🏠 Evacuation Shelter Available
If you need a safe place, an evacuation shelter is open at:
NSAKL
📍 869 New North Road, Mt Albert

Stay safe, look out for one another, and keep an eye on official updates.

This Easter, our food program supported even more members of our community, as rising fuel costs continue to place pressure on households. We’re proud to be able to step in and help ensure everyone has access to the support they need.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped with last week's Food Support Program.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us this past Saturday for our latest AAF Women’s Meeting! It was a truly inspiring afternoon of community and connection.

A special thank you to our guest speaker, Shirin Brown, for sharing her incredible insights from her experiences as a teacher, filmmaker, and former local board member.
