12 fire trucks—including Remuera 211—are sitting outside in commercial storage at an unknown cost to levy payers. Meanwhile, fire stations desperately need appliances, and FENZ has cancelled so many firefighter recruit courses that stations can no longer stay open 24/7.

"HAIR RAISING" 🚨 That's how an Officer described the terrifying moment the brakes failed on an Albany fire truck yesterday.

The crew were returning from an incident in Coatesville when their appliance’s braking system collapsed. As warning lights flashed on the dash heading into an intersection, the driver told the officer the brake pedal went straight to the floor. The crew deployed the park brake and stopped the truck.

FENZ’s own service provider confirmed a known fault and declined to drive the truck to the workshop, stating it was "too dangerous" to put on the road.

The incident happened just days after the Prime Minister labelled FENZ leadership a "Punch and Judy show" that's gone on way too long.
