Congratulations to our winning Pōhutukawa Hub for the work you put into your Book Week wall decoration…… all about WONDER, a contemporary children’s novel about a boy with facial differences who enters mainstream schooling for the first time which fits into our study on ‘Kindness’ beautifully.

Matariki Herenga Waka 2026

The Māori New Year is a time of reflection, celebration, and preparation. It is a time to remember loved ones, come together with whānau to give thanks for what we have and look forward to the promise of a new year. While the theme changes from year to year, the values of reflection, celebration and preparation remain the same.
This year’s theme is Matariki herenga waka – for everyone. The literal translation into English is “Matariki is a mooring place for all canoes.” The theme is about inclusion and has strong connections to multi-culturalism and the sharing of cultural practices.

Well done to these two school leaders - Dusty and Harriet - who led our school fundraiser for Jammies for June. They managed to raise over $700 which will help families in need to purchase pyjamas to keep their children warm in winter.

Just 2 more days to come and see our art show - gold coin donation at the door. Doors open before and after school today and again in the morning tomorrow. Come and have a look at the fabulous work the children have done. Winners will be acknowledged at our school assembly on Friday.
