We’re highlighting a member who has become PDINZ – Simon Dearsley

An existing Member (DINZ) who has gained up to five years experience as a practicing designer and attained a high level of professional competency in their design sector may apply to DINZ for professional Accreditation.

PDINZ acknowledges our Constitution’s Pou – recognition of excellence in professionalism and connecting and building relationships, but also being able to give something back to the community.

Simon Dearsley, PDINZ – Fisher & Paykel Appliances, EVP Design and Brand

"Our design community is one of the most ambitious and generous I've been part of. What sets it apart is its breadth - product, spatial, graphic and digital designers in the same room, which is rarer than it should be.

For me, PDINZ is a commitment to mentor emerging designers, to advocate for the value of design across all its forms, and to be an active contributor to a creative culture I want to see thrive.

Two decades working overseas taught me that a community like this is built, deliberately, by the people in it.”

We’re highlighting a member who has become PDINZ – Tennille Barnes

An existing Member (DINZ) who has gained up to five years experience as a practicing designer and attained a high level of professional competency in their design sector may apply to DINZ for professional Accreditation.

PDINZ acknowledges our Constitution’s Pou – recognition of excellence in professionalism and connecting and building relationships, but also being able to give something back to the community.

Tennille Barnes, PDINZ – Colenso BBDO Ltd, Head of Digital Design, Creative Tech & Innovation

"At this point in my career, PDINZ feels less like a marker of where I’ve got to and more about how I can be useful from here. I’ve been fortunate to build a career across design, technology and innovation in Aotearoa and internationally. Along the way, I’ve seen how much access, encouragement and opportunity can shape what feels possible.

As a Pasifika woman, I’d like to put some of what I’ve learned, and the influence I have now, to good use by helping make more of those possibilities real for others. Being part of PDINZ means being able to do that alongside a wider design community.

Different perspectives don’t just change who is represented, they change the thinking and make the work better. I’d love to help more of Aotearoa’s people and perspectives shape work that has impact here and beyond.”

The new purpose-built campus is a long-term investment in Fisher & Paykel Appliances’ people, culture and capability, created to support the next generation of innovation from Aotearoa New Zealand.

Designed with RTA Studio, the campus brings previously separate areas of the business into closer conversation, allowing ideas to move more freely between insight, design, engineering, making, testing and commercial teams.
