Recently, representatives from Shine attended the opening of Made to Shine at Black Door Gallery.

We were amazed by the beautiful collection of glass works by New Zealand artist Garry Nash. The craftsmanship and artistry on display were exceptional, and it was wonderful to see so many people supporting the exhibition.

We are incredibly grateful to receive a portion of the proceeds from the collection's sales. Every contribution helps us continue our work supporting adults, children and whānau experiencing family violence across Aotearoa.

Thank you to Black Door Gallery for hosting this special exhibition and creating an opportunity for art to make a meaningful impact in our communities.

A special glass collection made to Shine 🧡

We're delighted to invite you to Made to Shine, a special exhibition of glass works by renowned New Zealand artist Garry Nash, presented by Black Door Gallery from 6–19 October.

Drawn from a private collection, this rare exhibition showcases Garry Nash's distinctive artistry, with a portion of proceeds supporting Shine, a leading specialist family violence service working to create safer homes and brighter futures for adults and children across Aotearoa.

Today, we acknowledge and celebrate the vital mahi of social workers across Aotearoa.

Every day, social workers provide support, advocacy, guidance, and practical assistance to people facing a wide range of challenges. Through helplines, crisis intervention, safety planning, case management, education, and community support services, they help people access the resources and support they need.

At Shine, we are incredibly grateful for the social workers who support people affected by violence and those seeking safety, advice, information, and hope. Whether responding to someone reaching out for the first time or walking alongside them through their journey, their compassion, professionalism, and commitment make a profound difference.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗜𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 🧡

Employees at the Southern Cross Auckland and Hamilton offices recently put on 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗜𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 Bake Sale Fundraisers, raising funds to support safer families and those affected by family and domestic violence.

The bake sales brought colleagues together for a shared cause, with employees volunteering their time to organise the events, bake treats and encourage donations.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, whether by baking, buying or donating. Your support helped make these fundraisers a success and will help support organisations making a real difference in our communities.

Introducing Recognise, Respond, Support: Practical workplace responses to stalking!

Stalking became a crime in New Zealand two months ago, and today we’re launching a guide in partnership with Shine and Human Resources New Zealand to equip workplaces with practical guidance and tools to support employees experiencing stalking 📖

Work can be a place of safety, but it can also be used by perpetrators to contact, monitor, follow and approach victim-survivors.

Respond, Recognise, Support helps employers prepare for and respond when staff experience stalking, inside or outside work. The guide takes an employee-led approach.
