🛹 Have your say on Auckland’s skateparks! 🛹

What do you think about the skateparks and skate spaces in our neighbourhood? Whether you skate, scoot, ride BMX, roller skate, or use mobility wheels—Auckland Council wants to hear from you.

A new regional skatepark plan is being developed to help guide how skateparks across Tāmaki Makaurau are planned, upgraded, and connected in the future.

They’d love to hear:
🛹 how often you use skateparks
🛴 what activities you do there
🚲 what equipment you use
💬 any challenges or barriers you experience

Your feedback will help shape future skatepark planning, design and upgrades across Auckland!

🗣️ Have your say today: https://akhaveyoursay.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/skateparks

Did you know there's a Super Sorter session at Fair Food? With 15 tonne of surplus food sorted every week, volunteers are helping some of our community’s most vulnerable people while keeping precious kai out of landfill. 🍅🥦🍔

Thanks for sharing! We're so proud to advocate for the future public acquisition of the Avondale Racecourse at the council's Budget comittee on the Annual Plan yesterday! 😎

If you've had any conversations with me in the past few months it's quite likely they've ended up on the topic of the Avondale Racecourse. This space and its future is something really close to me (literally as well as metaphorically!) and something that has enormous potential to serve the people of Avondale, wider Whau, all of Tāmaki Makaurau. And not just the people! The site is vital to the ecological sustainability of the area, particularly migratory and shore birds.

There are a LOT of moving parts, but I'm so grateful to Jaclyn and the team at I Love Avondale for their consistent and dedicted advocacy on this. The People's Plan is a beuatiful vision, created collaboratively with community, businesses, clubs, and others, and it is what's guiding my advocacy as Whau Councillor.

Yesterday, all 21 Local Boards came to present to Council's Budget comittee on the Annual Plan, and Chair Kay Thomas and Member Ross Clow brought clear advocacy for the future public acquisition of the Avondale Racecourse on behalf of the Whau Local Board. Having just completed a term on that Local Board, I know how passionately they feel and how hard they've been working on this kaupapa. Yesterday was a great opportunity for my colleagues to see that as well.

It's a long and tricky road, but I'm doing everything I can to bring this vision to life. Thank you to all the amazing Council staff, community members, colleagues, neighbours, and friends working on this 4D puzzle with me!
