After weeks of preparation, hospitality students Tyler, Noah, Sofia and Margot competed in the Secondary Hospitality Competition, showcasing their hospitality and cooking skills in both the Barista and Baking categories. Despite some high nerves on the day, all students performed exceptionally well against 68 competitors from other schools.

Noah achieved a silver medal, and Margot and Tyler both achieved bronze placings in the live Barista competition, where students were required to make and present six coffees within 10 minutes! A special congratulations goes to Sofia who won a gold medal for her Classic Fruit Flan. Her piece was highly skilled and made with great precision, impressing the judges in taste, presentation, and technique!

We are incredibly proud of all students for their hard work, dedication, and achievements!

Rising stars! Parekura students won their game in the first round of the inter-school football competition! Our team proudly demonstrated Manaakitanga and Whanaungatanga on the football field with player of the day being awarded to Harley for both his compassion towards his opposition and his skills on the football field. Well done team!

Behind every great student passion project, club, and cultural group is a dedicated staff member putting in the extra hours to make it happen! From Robotics and Polyfest to Chess, Writers Group, and Concert Band, our staff give up their own time to ensure our students have a massive range of extra-curricular activities to dive into. Whether they are launching rockets, mentoring debating teams, or keeping the rhythm section steady, our team goes above and beyond every single week. A huge thank you to all our staff who bring these groups to life outside the classroom. This picture is just a small group of the staff that makes HHS a great place to be, thanks!

Ms Kudlack and Miss Hilton took members of our Writers’ Group to WORD – The Frontline, an Auckland regional spoken word poetry competition. This was the second year HHS has attended, and the growth from last year was incredible to see. Every student should be immensely proud of the powerful pieces they wrote and the courage they showed in sharing them!

Our Student Council is the official voice of our student body. Elected by their peers, these dedicated student leaders discuss initiatives that can benefit the school and ensure that every student's voice is heard.

Thanks to our student councillors for your dedication to HHS and your fellow students, and for upholding our school values of whanaungatanga/connection, kaitiakitanga/guardianship and Kotahitanga/unity.

An adventurous time! Mr Beeston, Mrs Ta’ala and Mr Webster have accompanied a group of Year 10 and Year 11students to the Hillary Outdoors Education Centre for an action-packed week. Students have been starting their day early with kitchen duties to prepare the fuel for their adventures. Our young adventurers have been challenged on the low and high ropes course, navigated their way through the bush, rock climbed, zip lined across a river, kayaked along lake Taupō and canoed along Lake Otamangakau. The views of all three mountains (Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngāuruhoe) have been incredible and it has been awesome to see our students push themselves out of their comfort zones!
