Aotearoa's flower community comes together at Silo 6 in Spring 2026, sharing their love of nature in ways that defy traditional understandings of floristry.

With no competitive aspect, free from commercial demands and briefs, 10 florists exhibit flower work inside the iconic Silo 6, with the ambition to create community and foster a supportive and inclusive flowering scene while sharing their craft with the flower loving public.

Future Flowering presents the unique and quintessential styles of floral designers who work with the most untameable and transient materials. Capturing the moments of growth and abundance as well as celebrating the wilting and decay, 10 florists create installations throughout Silo 6, giving a glimpse into modern imaginings of flowering as an artform.

Future Flowering creates a platform to showcase 10 unique styles, a community project celebrating the floral industry as well as engaging the flower-loving public with workshops, a plant market and general joyous spring flower vibes.

Come along to Te Ara Tukutuku Project Hub on Saturday 3 October to play your part in the regeneration of Wynyard Point.

Project partners Uru Whakaaro will be at the Hub to talk about the native plants that have been chosen for the project, why they were chosen and what they need to grow. They’ll also lead planting sessions, giving you the opportunity to plant and nurture the seeds that will grow into the very plants that will be used on site.

Our friends at Red Boat will also be there on the day, offering free trips around the headland so you can view the project from a new perspective, and as always there’ll be lots of whanau-friendly educational activities on offer, too.

Join artist Janine Williams and crochet extraordinaires Lissy and Rudi Robinson-Cole at Silo Park these school holidays, for a unique, free afternoon and evening of creative making, games, music and shared kai, as we celebrate Janine Williams’ captivating light-based artwork 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘪.

Inspired by the traditional Māori string game, 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘪 reflects the connection between ancient knowledge and contemporary innovation. Join the artists in making colourful pompoms using vibrant wool, then as darkness falls, see your creations transform under UV light.

As evening falls gather around the fire for music, storytelling, and conversation, and share in the spirit of manaakitanga with soup and fry bread. Feel free to bring a favourite dish of your own to contribute to the communal table.

To mark this unique collaboration between artists and community, 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘪 will be transformed in Lissy & Rudi’s signature pink.

This special, free event offers a unique opportunity to experience Whai in a new light while celebrating Māori culture, creativity, collaboration, and community.

🌊🌱 Te Ara Tukutuku has reached another exciting milestone, with the first of the in-harbour marine trials getting underway.

Te Ara Tukutuku is the project to regenerate Wynyard Point and transform it from its industrial past. Along with the enabling works currently underway on site, the marine trials are part of Tāmata te Mauri, the process of healing the site over time.

At the end of July, ropes, floats and green gravel (small rocks seeded with microscopic kelp) were deployed along the wharf at the northern end of Wynyard Point as part of a trial designed to test the best conditions for seaweed to grow.

Together, they will become home to the juvenile seaweed that was successfully cultivated at a nearby hatchery during the first phase of seaweed restoration trials.

The kaupapa was initiated by Auckland Urban Design Office, Mana Whenua partners and Toi Waihanga, with support from technical advisor Dr Jarrod Walker, and is being delivered by EnviroStrat venture Greenwave Aotearoa to enhance the mauri of Te Waitematā.

🏊 If you happen to pass by Karanga Plaza Harbour Pool on Saturday 25 July and see a group of people floating in the chilly waters, don’t panic!

They are there to raise awareness for World Drowning Prevention Day and encourage people to take steps to help reduce preventable deaths.

As part of the fundraising event, participants (and any willing members of the public) will be taking part in a 74-minute group float, representing lives lost in drowning accidents last year. There will also be Public Rescue Equipment demonstrations and plenty of family-friendly activities to learn from and take part in.

The event will run from 12-2:30pm on Saturday, 25 July.
