Kia ora whanau,

A huge shoutout to all our students and staff who were involved in BBI's Got Talent last night. It certainly was an extravaganza.

We've received a few calls about finishing time of school today. School finishes at 2pm.

This term our Year 8 students have been utilising the amazing science kits from the House of Science to learn about DNA and forensics. Today Rm 16 was conducting experiments to determine:
Do drops of spatter change as the height they were dropped from increases?
What happens to their size and shape? Can you identify the parent drop, the spines and the satellite spatter in each sample?

Kia ora whānau! 💬🌿

It’s Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, and our wonderful librarian Donna has set up this display to fully inspire our students and staff!

Whether it's saying "Kia ora" at the gate, asking "Kei te pēhea koe?" in class, or diving into a dictionary, every word counts.

Here are a few easy phrases showcased in our display to try at home this week:
🗣️ Kia ora – Hello / Thank you / Cheers
🗣️ Kei te pēhea koe? – How are you?
🗣️ Ake, ake, ake – Forever and ever

How are you celebrating te reo Māori in your house this week? Let us know below! 👇

👋 Kia ora Blockhouse Bay Intermediate Whānau!

Here are a few important updates and notices for our school community as we head into another week:

Welcome Back & Attendance Update: It is fantastic to see so many of our students returning to class after a few tough weeks of illness. Keeping up regular attendance makes a huge difference - as parents and carers, ensuring your child attends school every day gives them the best foundation for learning. Our school and Ministry of Education target is 90% individual attendance, and students who hit this target with less than 10% lateness will earn an Attendance Star! Last week in Term 3, Week 8, we achieved an overall attendance rate of 92.9%. Let's keep this great momentum going towards our daily and weekly goal of 94%!

AIMS Games Athletes: A huge congratulations to all our amazing athletes who represented Blockhouse Bay Intermediate down in Tauranga Moana last week! We are so proud of your hard work, grit, and sportsmanship. Stay tuned - full results will be shared shortly! 🏆

Year 8 High School Enrolments (Overdue): Attention Year 8 whānau - if you have not yet submitted your child's enrolment application to your local high school, please note that these are now overdue. Please make this an urgent priority! Prompt applications ensure high schools have accurate student numbers and give your child the best opportunity to secure their preferred option subjects. Note: If your child is later accepted into an out-of-zone school, you can easily withdraw their local application at that time.
