IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM KELSTON GIRLS COLLEGE PRINCIPAL.

Tēnā koutou e te whānau,
We have been informed of a recent incident in which a student was approached by a stranger on their way home.

The NZ Police have been notified, and a formal report has been filed.

The safety and wellbeing of our students is our absolute priority. We will be reinforcing the following safety advice from the NZ Police, and we ask that you take a moment to discuss these points at home as well:

Travel together: Walk with a friend or group whenever possible.
Stick to safe routes: Use main roads and well-lit areas; avoid shortcuts through alleyways, parks, or isolated spots.
Stay alert: Keep eyes and ears open (limit headphone use) and trust your instincts if something feels off.
Keep phones ready: Ensure phones are charged and easily accessible to contact an adult if needed.
Speak up immediately: Contact a trusted adult, school staff, or police right away if feeling unsafe or if something concerning occurs.

If your child notices anything unusual or if you have specific concerns, please contact the school or the police. For non-urgent information, you can contact the Police on 105. In an emergency, call 111 immediately.
