Did you spot some familiar faces on 1News last week?

Our wonderful Piwakawaka Class was in the spotlight, with Mrs Vincer showcasing some of the learning happening in our junior school!

The story explored children, screen time and the importance of creating healthy relationships with technology. Our Principal, Bryce Mills, also shared how we are supporting our tamariki at Riverina through our approach to technology and learning.

It was so special to see Piwakawaka Class, Mrs Vincer and Mr Mills representing Riverina and giving viewers a little glimpse into the wonderful learning happening in our school.

What an amazing Father’s Day Breakfast we enjoyed on Friday morning! 💙

It was wonderful to see so many dads and special father figures joining us for some delicious kai and quality time with their children.

We were also treated to beautiful violin and piano performances from our talented Music Academy students. They did an outstanding job and helped make the morning even more special. 🎻🎹

A huge thank you to all the dads and father figures who came along. It was awesome to recognise, celebrate and honour you all. We hope you have a fantastic Father’s Day! 💙

🏃‍♀️🏆 Sport at Riverina 🏆🏃‍♂️

At Riverina School, we believe sport is about more than just competition. It’s about building confidence, developing teamwork, challenging yourself, and discovering what you’re capable of.

Our After School Sports Academy gives students the opportunity to develop their sporting skills, try new activities, and take their learning beyond the classroom.

We love seeing our students get active, support one another, and build confidence through sport. There’s something for everyone, whether they’re already passionate about sport or discovering a new interest.

🌟 Tui Assembly Magic! 🌟

What an amazing assembly hosted by Tui on Friday! We were treated to fantastic performances showcasing the confidence, creativity and many talents of our tamariki.

At Riverina School, we believe strongly in celebrating success, and our assemblies provide a wonderful opportunity to recognise the achievements, progress and talents of our students. It is always special to see our tamariki celebrated by their friends, teachers and whānau.

A huge congratulations to the students who read their poems aloud. They were absolutely fantastic! Sharing your own writing in front of a large audience takes real courage, and they delivered their poems with confidence, expression and pride.

Well done to everyone who participated and to our certificate recipients for demonstrating our Riverina values and setting such a positive example.

Ka rawe, Tui! What a brilliant way to finish the week. 💙👏

📺 Riverina on 1News! 🎥✨

There was a little extra excitement at Riverina School this morning as the 1News team joined us to film a story about our move to screen free learning in our junior classes.

And what we are seeing is pretty incredible.

Since making the change, we’re noticing exciting growth in our tamariki’s self regulation, problem solving, collaboration and critical thinking. Perhaps one of the best outcomes of all has been seeing children rediscover the simple joy of play. Creating games, negotiating with each other, solving problems together, using their imaginations and finding new ways to learn and connect.

The results and observations so far have been outstanding, and we’re really excited to continue gathering insights as this approach becomes embedded in our junior school. 📚🧩🧠

A huge well done to Mrs Vincer and our Pīwakawaka tamariki, who did Riverina incredibly proud in front of the cameras today! 💛

Watch this space… there’s plenty more to come! 👀📺
