This week, our awesome Manulua students unpacked the game development process through our reading programme. They then tested their ideas using Microsoft Make-Arcade. Our students learned how coding can be used to give instructions, create movement, and control what happens in a game. They also experimented with SFX (Sound Effects), and coding-blocks to debug and enhance player experience.

Our students then used ‘Two Stars and a Wish’ templates to give feedback and feedforward about their game- to collaboratively identify the strengths in their games and next steps.

What a proud moment for our Te Papapa School leaders!

A huge congratulations to Salalina, our Head Girl, and our school leaders Nasili, Pepe and Palu for stepping up and representing our school in the Tongan Speech Competition.

Salalina and Nasili together with Salalina’s Tohitapu performance took out 1st Place in the Year 8 category! 🥇 What an achievement! Congratulations

But what makes this even more special is that this was the first time our students had ever entered a speech competition representing TPS. They stood in front of a big crowd and a panel of judges, with all eyes on them, and found the courage to speak their mother tongue.

These four are not only school leaders , they are role models who show excellent learning, leadership and commitment both in and outside of school. Today they reminded us that leadership isn’t always about having the loudest voice. Sometimes it’s simply having the courage to stand up and use your voice.

Mālō ‘aupito to Mrs Pifileti, Mr Tu’itahi, Mrs Mateaki and Mrs Kata for supporting and encouraging their children every step of the way. This is bigger than a competition. This is about our young people having the confidence to speak their language, carry their culture and inspire the next generation.

We are so incredibly proud of you all.

Congratulations to our two Year 6 students Pepe and Palu who represented TPS at the Speech Contest on Wednesday. We’re so proud of them for being our first ever TPS representatives. Thank you to Mrs. Pifileti and Mr. Tu’itahi for supporting and preparing them. We’re so proud of you both!
