Dogs are part of everyday life across Tāmaki Makaurau – and with more than 132,000 pups calling the region home, Auckland Council is reminding owners it’s time to get them registered.

Registrations open on 1 June, with owners encouraged to complete the process with the bright green tags before 1 August. 🐶 🟢

Sit, stay, register – good dogs wear green; it’s time to register your dog.

Last week we attended the sod turning for the Carrington Road Improvements project, joining Hon Simon Watts (Minister for Auckland), Councillor Richard Hills and AT’s Interim CEO Stacey van der Putten.

The east-west route, linking Pt Chevalier and Mt Albert, carries around 15,000 vehicles a day, connecting residents to State Highway 16 and the Northwestern Cycleway.

The project will provide a safer and more accessible area, with increased capacity to move people, by providing improved travel options, including bus priority, improved walking and cycling facilities, place-making, and safety improvements.

Funding for the project is being provided through the Government’s Infrastructure Acceleration Fund, with more than $110 million invested to improve the route.

The work is expected to start next month, and will take two years to complete.

The Central Interceptor team have finished their mahi at Mt Albert War Memorial Park, and the lower carpark will re-open on Saturday 15 May.

The team have been working there since May 2022, to complete major construction on the site.

The second part of the Central Interceptor tunnel is set to go live in the coming months, this will reduce wet weather overflows into local waterways and beaches, thanks for your patience over this time.
