🔥Experienced Volunteer Firefighters, We Want You! 🔥

Are you ready for your next challenge?
West Harbour Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the busiest volunteer brigades in the country — highly active, committed, and proud to serve our community. We're looking for like-minded volunteers to join our team.

✅ We have just TWO spaces available
✅ You must be an existing volunteer firefighter
✅ You must live within 5 minutes of the West Harbour station - or be willing to relocate

We run a rostered 1-in-8 duty system for our first appliance, with a call-back (AMS) system for the second appliance — giving you structure, flexibility, and plenty of opportunities to stay operational.

At West Harbour, we pride ourselves on more than just our call volume. We have a strong, supportive culture with a big focus on family, teamwork, and looking out for each other — on and off the fireground.

If you're experienced, committed, and want to be part of a high-performing, tight-knit crew — we want to hear from you.

Outstanding results by Team West Harbour!

For the first time West Harbour VFB have had a Waterways Competition Team enter the United Fire Brigades' Association of NZ National waterways competition, this year being hosted in Mataura Southland with approximately 150 Firefighters from around NZ representing brigades for a shot at the top spot.
This year our team took out the National Champions Winners with outstanding display of hose, pump operating & waterway skills - An absolute outstanding achievement for West Harbour!

Team - Ricey, Tyler, Stu, Nick & Head Coach Macca. Well done Fella's!

Crews arriving at a Structure fire this week managed to quickly capture this.

With daylight savings right around the corner its that time to check your Smoke Alarms are working, create a plan to get out with your family!

Testing time for night staff attending a fire at PinePac in Whenuapai this month.
A small fire developed under the hopper and worked its way up into ducting and the hopper itself.
Crews worked into the morning to make sure there was no chance of re-ignition, 52,000ltrs of water was pumped to ensure the spread was stopped via aerial & fixed suppression installations.

Big ups to the neighbors who discovered the fire at 0145 and alerted Fire, your actions well n truly stopped what could of been a significant incident.

Fires are fast !! Its important to know what to do when a fire develops, Make a plan with your family in your place of residence so everyone knows what to do!

1️⃣ Get out and stay out
2️⃣ ☎️ Call 111 and ask for FIRE
3️⃣ Never go back inside

A great meeting place for everyone in your household is by your letterbox if its safe,its easier for us to Identify you and your residence when we arrive.

Stay safe during these cold nights, remember working smoke alarms save lives
