Behind the scenes of training nights this week!

Monday night focused on first-arrival search and rescue drills, as well as refreshing our ladder skills.

Then, on our way to Takapuna Station for recruit training, we were called to an actual job — a fire alarm activation. We followed the same first-arrival procedures we train for, investigated the cause of the alarm, and left the building in safe hands.

For recruit training, we took it back to the basics — slowly working through each step of the first-arrival process to build skills and confidence. A solid foundation to build on as our recruits progress through their training. 🚒

Training night looked a bit different this week…

Every Monday night training starts with checking the truck, equipment, and breathing apparatus to make sure everything is in the right place and ready when it is needed the most. We were headed off station for a drill tonight before training was cut short by a callout.

While this one wasn’t a major incident, it’s a great reminder that every check, every drill, and every training night has a purpose. We never know when the pager will go off, so staying prepared means we are ready to respond - whatever the call may be 🔥

📋 Join Our Brigade Behind the Scenes! 🚒

Not everyone has to ride the fire truck to make a difference.

We’re looking for a Brigade Administrator to become an important part of our team by supporting the brigade with a range of administrative tasks that help keep us running smoothly.

This is a non-operational volunteer role and is perfect for someone who enjoys being organised, working with people, and contributing to their community in a meaningful way.

The role includes:
✔️ Attending brigade night each Monday from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
✔️ Assisting with general administrative tasks
✔️ Helping out with occasional ad hoc duties as required

No previous brigade administration experience is needed. Full training will be provided, and there is no requirement to know any specific software or programmes. All we ask is that you have basic computer skills, a willingness to learn, and a reliable, organised approach.

As our Brigade Administrator, you’ll become part of a supportive, close-knit team and play a vital role in helping our firefighters serve the community.

We’re down at the Long Bay Village Market today until 2:00pm raising funds for a new brigade support vehicle.
