Health and Safety is an overriding priority at The Fire Guys. All of our Auckland based technical staff are thrilled that they can return to work onsite tomorrow, however we are not taking our level 3 obligations lightly. The systems and people we have in place, alongside our ISO45001:2018 accreditation have made planning our return a breeze! Stay safe out there Aucklanders and enjoy the takeaways! 😷🍔🍟🔥

Things may have ground to a halt once more onsite under Government level 4 restrictions, however our design and estimation teams are all set up in their home offices and raring to go! We currently have real capacity to assist clients, old and new with any Fire Protection Design, Estimation or Technical requirements.

Another day, another iconic project for team TFG! Some of our service team have been working hard at Sky City's AA Building in Auckland's CBD. Plenty of long night shifts over the last 3 months, carrying out a comprehensive upgrade of the fire alarm system. Another really special and exciting project for our installation team, and not without it's unique challenges whilst working alongside an operational railway line! The Puhinui Station Interchange is a vital piece of transport infrastructure, linking Auckland to the Airport and it's certainly another feather in the TFG project portfolio cap!

TFG are proud to be part of this 14 level redevelopment project in the center of Auckland CBD. Our Sprinkler installation team have been working hard onsite, having first fixed the sprinkler system throughout the build and completed the pump room. They are doing us proud as usual, flying well ahead of programme with glowing feedback from site staff!

Nido Living and The Fire Guys Project Partnership: Exciting new case study to announce! We are stoked to be working with Nido (NZ's largest retail store), by providing extensive fire protection systems, design / build solutions. Once fully completed, the systems installed will include over 7000 sprinklers, across 2 separate systems (1000 of those sprinklers installed throughout a 20+ metre high automated racking system). We couldn’t be prouder of our team who are successfully delivering this project.

Two of our Directors, Russell Hogg and Augustine (Gus) Fepuleai, found time at the 2020 New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS) conference to enjoy a beer with Sir Graham Henry (apparently Steinlager Pure is Graham’s favourite). Asides from networking with Graham, who was a motivational speaker on day two, they said they learnt a lot from several informative speakers and had a good time networking with some interesting people throughout the NZ construction industry. Thanks, NZIQS for putting on a great event.

The Fire Guys team were stoked to win the Fire Protection Design/Build packages for two America’s Cup related projects down at Wynyard Quarter, Auckland. The buildings are Head Quarters for both the ‘American Magic’ (US) and the ‘Luna Rossa’ (Italy) Americas Cup teams. The Fire Guys were awarded the fire protection subcontract packages by Vivian Construction after successfully tendering the works earlier this year.

The projects are on track to deliver top-quality and compliant fire protection systems, including fire sprinklers, alarms and portable firefighting equipment. Installing and maintaining fire alarms by day, firefighter by night. Alex Haines (AJ), Fire Alarm Service Supervisor at The Fire Guys, is an integral part of our team and is known in the industry as someone who is reliable and knowledgeable. He also happens to be a volunteer firefighter for the Birkenhead Volunteer Fire Brigade for the past 7 years. AJ has attended to hundreds of emergencies ranging from medicals to serious car crashes, and he even helped with the Auckland SkyCity fire back in 2019. But by far his most memorable moment was getting notified that an aged person was lost and confused in the middle of Kauri Park Forest. AJ and his colleague hiked through the forest, weighed down by their firefighting uniforms, and eventually found the missing person badly injured and unable to walk. They carried her out of the forest and put her in the waiting ambulance. AJ said, “it was one of those jobs that once we got her to safety and put her in the ambulance, it just felt like we had really made a difference – not only to her life but also the family’s lives.” AJ said seeing all the fires he gets called to really makes him take his job at The Fire Guys seriously. He has seen firsthand the damage one small fire can do and how fast they can spread. We have moved! We have merged with our mates Kaizon and relocated to the other side of the bridge. Our new office is located at 1 The Strand, Takapuna, Auckland. Same phone number as we currently have, (09) 625 1606. The office is still a work-in-progress, but here are a few sneak peaks in the meantime. We're excited to join our broader team at Kaizon and look forward to the future of The Fire Guys.
