Thanks to the dedication of many hours of hard work by our very own past president Ian Clouston and a generous local Rotary District grant, Rotary Browns Bay can now call themselves the proud owners of a brand new shiny trailer. This trailer will be invaluable to us for carting and storing all items used whenever we're out and about supporting our community πŸ‘

Another exciting Changeover evening for Rotary Browns Bay was held at the Bays Club this week.
Ian Clouston, our outstanding President for the last couple of years, handed over the chain (with some relief we must add πŸ˜€) to our new keen and excited incoming President John Cliffe.
The members from Rotary Browns Bay would wholeheartedly like to thank Ian for all his hard work and dedication over the past 2 years to taking our club to where it is today. A strong group of friends giving a helping hand to our community where we can.
Welcome new president John Cliffe, you have a challenging task ahead of you but we're all there to support you as much as we can.

The Changeover evening also acknowledged a couple of very special members for their contribution to Rotary Browns Bay namely:
Our secretary Sally Cargill, who was voted by our members as Rotarian Of The Year. Sally has put in so much hard work, is always available to do what needs doing and the club would be lost without her. A well deserved award Sally, congratulations
And another well deserved award went to our IT wizz Gareth Roberts who has shared his valuable knowledge by making sure our meetings are running smoothly on the technical site. Gareth was handed the Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF) award. A prestigious award for Rotarians around the world.

Rotary Browns Bay is looking forward to another exciting year ahead.

The weather was gorgeous, the atmosphere vibrant, lots of laughter and plenty of people enjoying the fantastic Summer Spectacular at Browns Bay beach last Saturday.

ROTARY BROWNS BAY, not wanting to miss out, took part in the action by providing their famous sausage sizzle. The tempting smell of sausages and cooked onions was not to be avoided and the team went flat out all day feeding numerous hungry mouths.
A SPECTACULAR DAY INDEED. We're already looking forward to next year's event.

Rotary Browns Bay, at their last breakfast meeting, enjoyed a talk by one of their own members, Lynne Taylor.
Lynne, a keen participant of the 'Sweet Adelines Greater Auckland Chorus' traveled with the Chorus to Kansas City, USA in October 2024 to compete in the International Women's Barbershop Convention and Competition. Lynne very proudly shared with us how, 32 Kiwi women on stage, came away from this international competition victorious by achieving 1st place in the entertainment package through performing a play incorporating five songs.
These Kiwi women were totally ecstatic by winning this very impressive cup.

We're all very thrilled for you Lynne and other Chorus members. This would have taken a lot of dedication to achieve such an excellent result on an international stage.

14th of October 2024 Rotary Browns Bay celebrated its 40th Anniversary with a Big Bang. Past and present members, Rotarian's from other clubs and other invited guests joined us for an evening of revisiting some of the events Rotary BB has been involved in over the past 40 years. The club has certainly made its mark in our community and has achieved many great things. It is astonishing how many lives have been changed for the better through all their commitment in helping others.
A special thank you goes out to Long Bay College Jazz band for their performance on the evening. These young talented musicians were a joy to listen to.
Thank you all who helped make the evening so special, and a big thank you to Corina and Manik from The Bays Club. The venue couldn't have been any better and the food was amazing.

Come and join the party. The 14th of October we are celebrating and reminiscing 40 years of friendship, contributing in a big way to our community and over all these years enjoying the knowledge of great speakers.

A reminder to those of you wanting to join us but haven't paid for the dinner yet. Monday the 7th of October is the last day as we need to advise our catering people of our numbers.

Hard to believe but today 40 years ago the Rotary Club of Browns Bay was chartered.
40 years of friendship, fundraisers, supporting our local communities and so many interesting speakers that came along and are still coming along to our breakfast meetings. We still have some of the original members from 1984 that can enlighten us on the 4 decades of being a member of our club and we look forward to hearing some of their stories at our Ruby Celebration night on the 14th of October 2024.
Entertainment on the night will be provided by the Long Bay College music department.
Please also support our raffle (see attached image) where you can win a great prize of a $500 travel voucher which is kindly provided by House of Travel Browns Bay.
