A huge congratulations to Zosia Herlihy-O'Brien on being selected as the Royal Albert Hall's inaugural Organ Scholar!
Zosia is well-known in Auckland's music scene and has performed on the Auckland Town Hall Organ previously. You may also recognise her as a former Concertmaster of the Auckland Youth Orchestra, playing violin for the AYO's 2022 performance of the Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony, which featured Town Hall Organ Trustee Nicholas Forbes on the organ.
As a multi-instrumentalist she's received numerous accolades and it comes as no surprise to hear she's been granted this incredible opportunity.
Congratulations, Zosia!
Congratulations to New Zealand musician Zosia Herlihy-O’Brien who has been selected as one of the "first ever" Organ Scholars at the Royal Albert Hall.
The year-long scholarship, commencing in 2026 and led by Organist of the Royal Albert Hall, Anna Lapwood MBE, aims to advance a young organist's key skills including performance style and communication.
Zosia moved to the UK to study a Master of Music at the Royal Academy of Music, specialising in organ, violin and conducting and is now the resident organist of the Charterhouse.
In 2023, Zosia was the recipient of the Maxwell Fernie Dame Malvina Major Foundation Award, that supports young keyboard artists to further their education or training in the organ.
