22 years of collecting for , and it still feels personal every year.

Thank you to everyone who stopped, donated and shared a few words today. Some people told me about family members or friends who have faced cancer. Others spoke about people they have lost.

Over the years, I have seen how cancer can turn a family’s life upside down. That is why Daffodil Day matters. Every donation helps support people when they need it most.

Thank you, West Auckland, for your generosity and for taking the time to share your stories.

Better late than never.

The speed table ramp in the Glen Eden town centre, on the intersection of West Coast Road and Glendale Road, is being modified after complaints of vehicle damage to suspensions and broken engine mounts.

A resident group in a West Auckland suburb is fuming over the wasted tax and ratepayer money being spent to modify a new speed table ramp that was part of a million dollar project five years ago.

Library hours are changing across Henderson-Massey from 10 October.

Te Atatū Peninsula gains more weekday access, which is positive. Te Manawa, however, loses three hours across Thursday and Friday, including two evening hours on Thursday. Waitākere Central and Rānui will also close an hour earlier on Thursdays.

Libraries are not just about books. They are places to study, use the internet, take the kids, join programmes and connect with the community. Speically for our seniors and children.

Council should monitor the changes and tell us whether they are actually improving access.

If you use one of these libraries, will the new hours work better for you? Interpreted in your thoughts.

Auckland Council is investing around $79 million in parks and community assets across the region.

That includes local parks, sports fields, regional parks, climate projects and work to prevent slips.

This is welcome, but West Auckland must receive a fair share. Our parks, tracks and public facilities are used every day and need regular maintenance, safe access and practical upgrades. Hope they bring the rubbish bins back in places we desperately need them.

Public money should deliver clear public benefit, by the people, of the people, for the people!

Plan Change 120 will shape where more housing can be built across Auckland for decades.

Westies need to look closely at what is proposed for their neighbourhoods.

More homes are needed, and stronger flood protections are welcome. But growth must come with roads, parking, schools, parks, water services and reliable public transport.

Many West Auckland families rely on cars. Developments with little or no off-street parking simply push more vehicles onto already congested local roads.

Auckland Council says submissions are expected to open in late August for four weeks. Please check the proposal and have your say. Housing growth must be supported by infrastructure, not get ahead of it.
