Hibiscus Coast Army of Friends is a new Facebook group of like-minded folk on the HBC dedicated to helping those in need at critical times. As situations require it, this group will activate to assess and contribute in whatever way the problem requires. It has been setup in the aftermath of the Hospice Shop fire, and will initially be running events that will help to find donations of goods and ko
ha to Hospice. Although the ongoing concentration will be on helping to raise funds for Hospice, the group will also help others in need including when disaster hits families, floods, power outage, fires, etc. While there will be assistance given, the Admins of the group will make decisions as to who will be given this help, and there will be no guarantee of help to anyone. The admins also reserve the right to moderate conversation on the page, and would ask in advance for No foul language, No unreasonable behaviour. The emphasis will be on keeping things POSITIVE, even in difficult times. For me personally (Yahn) this page is a dedication to my mum Fay Cropp, who died in Hospice Whangaparaoa 21st March 2012, less than 2 weeks before the fire that destroyed her beloved Hospice shop that she use to love going to 2-3 times a week. She also loved going to Daybreak every week at Hospice for the last 3 years. My mum dedicated her life to helping people. She sponsored a child in east Timor every year through HETA, she was also ex-service and spent 6 years as an unsung hero, feeding the troops as a cook in the Royal Army ATS . She was always happy, and firmly believed that you can stay joyful in anything. She was a great mother and great woman. Although this is to be the Hibiscus Coast Army of Friend, I have nicknamed it "Fay's Army" for this very reason.
