Auckland is already struggling. Our infrastructure is under strain, school rolls are at capacity, commuters are stuck in traffic, and our special character is at risk.

Proposed Plan Change 120, as signed off on by Auckland Council, will allow for up to 1.7 million more houses to be built.

Without careful planning and a strategic approach, the outcome could be detrimental.

C&R recognises the need for more housing, while also recognising the importance of retaining our special character and improving infrastructure and services.

The decision by the City Vision-controlled Albert-Eden Local Board to oppose having more concerts at Eden Park is a huge let down for the community.

Despite an overwhelming majority of local supporting more events at Eden Park, the Local Board has allowed ideology to triumph reason.

Unacceptable.

The venue is currently limited to six artists playing a total of 12 gigs a year.
