Today Manly Volunteer Fire Brigade had the privilege to visit a local Early Childhood Centre, The Harbour Haven, to speak to the kids and their teachers about fire safety and for them to have a look around our truck!

It was nice to have such a great group of kids listen so intently!!
Smiley faces all around!!!! 😃😃

Hello, my name is Janette Baird, and I’m part of a group working to restore and preserve old fire trucks from our district. 🚒

Our current possible project is a 1972 Ford D1013 fire truck, which has a long history of service in Silverdale and the surrounding district.

To get this project up and running, one of our first steps is to obtain a restoration quote from someone with the right experience.

We’re looking for someone experienced in vehicle restoration, panel beating, classic trucks, or similar work who would be willing to come and inspect the truck and provide us with a quote for restoration.

📍 The truck is currently stored in a shed in Whangaparāoa.
⚠️ It is not drivable, so it cannot be taken to a workshop for a quote. The person would need to come to the truck and inspect it on site.

If you have the skills and experience to help us, or know someone who might, please send me a message (I have been tagged into this post) or tag them below.

We’d love the opportunity to bring this 1972 Ford back to life and preserve an important piece of our local firefighting history for future generations. 🚒❤️

Please feel free to share so we can find the right person.

Thank you,
Janette

Manly Volunteer Fire Brigade Hazmat Ready: Prepared for the Unexpected!

Awesome training session last night with the team, and a big thank you to Ben, a former Manly member, and Tyler for coming along and putting us through some much-needed Hazmat training.

It's not something we encounter every day, but when the call comes in, being prepared can make all the difference.

Great work by everyone involved!

Hi all

Jo, a member in our Brigade, has been working hard with a small group of people to organise 'Mahi for Mental Health' with F45 Whangaparāoa - where all funds raised will be going to I AM HOPE.

The event runs from 10am Saturday 18th July to 10am Sunday 19th July at f45 in Whangaparāoa).

This is a fundraiser f45 get behind and normally the numbers participants do reflect the number of su***des in NZ for the year. Last year, New Zealand had 617 su***des, so they did 617km on the ergs (stationary cardio machines), and 3500 burpees.

This year, they want to go for 24 hours and smash those targets. Their goal is 7000 burpees and 2000km on the ergs, and running from 10am Saturday 18th to 10am Sunday 19th.

The last hour on the ergs (9.00am - 10.00am on the Sunday) is for those with family and friends who have been lost to su***de. They will also have a remembrance wall with photos if you choose to place one up.

Some things the team are looking at doing are:

- Police vs Fire vs Ambo, whichever team does the most in their chosen hour!
- The Manly Volunteer Fire Brigade duty crew and other members taking part.
- Have kids a kid's hour from 4-5pm on the Saturday

Or you can just come on down, jump on and erg/do burpees and hang out with a sweaty group of tired people.

The overnight/early hours will be hard part for us so set an alarm and come down at any time!

The doors will be open to all in the community. The team don’t want empty ergs at all!

If you have a business and want to/can donate goods or services, let us know! There will be doing silent auctions and raffles as well. All funds going to I AM HOPE

Members of the Manly Volunteer Fire Brigade, including SO Baird, SFF White, QFF Pelikani and RCFF Phillipps, had the amazing opportunity to speak to some great kids at Wentworth Primary School today about fire safety and the importance of smoke alarms.

They were great little listeners with some really interesting questions!! 😀👍🔥🚒
